That's not a bad idea. Perhaps a FAQ section on The Traveler Page (https://fiddlerman.com/traveling-fiddle/) that could answer these and other basic questions folks might have or that come up over and over. I know it would be some extra work for someone, but in the long-run might save having to answer the same questions that keep coming up about The Traveler. And, if there is a central FAQ section with The Traveler Basic FAQs that newcomers can go to get their questions answered and "fears" allayed, it might get more folks on The Traveler's List.

That link to the FAQ questions should be in the heading for this thread so it is visible and accessible from every page of this thread. This is page 86, as pages are advanced, that link, if it was just in a post, would be lost. In parens next to “Traveling Fiddlerman Community Violin” (click her for FAQ’s, including packaging and shipping) would keep it front and center.

Just a thought. I would love to do it, but that concerns me. I would love to be a part of this.

The info should not be buried with other info general info info and wonderful photos. It might be there, I don’t know, I couldn’t find anything that set my mind at ease about packing and shipping for taking part. I certainly don’t want to be the one who has to ship overseas, and that concerns me.

Good idea @cid if a link can be posted in the heading for this thread. I don't know if html can be used in headings and html would need to be used for it to be a "hot" (clickable) link. If it is within this 86 page and growing forum it will be lost like you suggested. That is why I suggested Traveling Fiddle – Singing All Over the World page which isn't within the forum. (Is it one of the blog pages?). It could be highlighted in a prominent spot on that page. Perhaps a sub-forum of this thread could be created with a link. Whoever maintains this forum would know if that can be done.

Not everyone who visits know about that blog forum, though. I searched when I first read about the violin in a thread. I am not sure where I came across the information. Blog, Videos/Recordings? I don’t remember. I think that if they can put an active link in the heading, that would be good. If not, a mention of where to find info that is always front and center.

Now that a video is not necessary, I am interested, if I can get the packing and shipping info and experiences from people.

I have to do little 6-7 second clips of videos, and it is time consuming. We don’t have to do the video now, so sounds better to me.

I have a post at the bottom end of page 85 of this thread with questions regarding packing and shipping. Thank you.

The person in charge is Fiddle Chick. 🙂
If you email or PM me, I'll just forward your info to Deb.

Glad to see revived interest in hosting.

All, my time hosting the traveling fiddle is drawing to a close soon, I'll do a packing video and post it, if it is acceptable, Perrie can link it to the front page for future reference.

I apologize for no videos for a week or so, life struck again, last week while on vacation the wife wound up sick and in the hospital for 4 days while our son and his family was visiting us from Texas, so the places we were going to visit did not happen. I'll post a few more in the next couple of days before I send her on to her next host.

Four years ago when I was thinking about taking lessons I was talking to the owner of the local music stop if he knew of any violin/fiddle teachers and he stated he had just added one to the list of teachers that taught at the store. He explained he was young just out of high school but very talented and in need of students (AKA. starving musician syndrome) He went on to tell me he was from Columbia, South America. So I imaged he would be dark headed, darker complected and about 5' 10", 170 lbs. To my surprise he was dark headed, darker complected but at 6' 4" and 290 lbs a bit larger than I had imaged. Any way I rousted Daniel Guevara out of bed this morning early and had him play a tune on the Traveling fiddle.

Nice early morning raid ... that's my kind of music, @Mark.

I hope you bought him a cup of coffee after dragging him out of bed!

P.S - I now have the next hostess address and I'm sure she will do a great job of hosting the traveling fiddle, I'll be wrapping up my hosting of the Traveling fiddle this weekend and mailing it off Monday morning for the wilds of Canada to our next distinguished hostviolin_girl

I'm sure you'll miss The Traveler, @Mark May it come back to you for some good playing again somewhere down the line! I'll look forward to the next recipient's reports from Canada.

 Bravo!

Is that a left handed violin or is it recorded with a device with the picture flipped, making it look like a left handed violin?

Again, BRAVO!thumbs-up thanks_much_smiley_giffor all your performances!

Moonshadows, aye I will miss her, but her spirit won't let her be tide down to one spot, so off she must go to seek out new adventures.

Cid, actually neither, because of an old hand injury that left me without a finger and limited mobility to bend two more fingers and the fact that left have fiddles are rare, I chose to play a normal right handed fiddle left handed.
