Next the Traveler will be visiting an iconic road house in the interior of Alaska.  The Howling Dog Saloon.  I was so tickled to be pictured on the stage (carpeted with "The Pope" carpet that he walked on when he came to visit) for their ad.

Here's the first installment of the Traveler in the interior of Alaska.  This is at the Golden Eagle Saloon in beautiful down town Ester.  The Golden Eagle isn't just a bar, it's a community center.  Bring your kids and your dogs, cook your own burger on the grill, listen to live music every Sunday.  In the summer we play on the porch.  In the winter we play inside next to the wood stove.

This is where I learned to play by ear and to play with other people.  I still mess up, especially when I'm being focused on.  But it is a great learning experience and I have made so many dear friends here, all through my fiddle.

You don't have to listen to it all.  It's just simple cell phone clips.  But do skip around in there.

That's a song called Donald Where's Your Trousers?  Lol.  I don't know it very well as the guy singing it only comes every once in a while.  But I like it.

Looks great from a quick viewing; I'll listen to more of it when I have more time. 🙂

I reckon you now hold the record for posting the longest traveller video in the shortest time. 😉

Love that great front porch music. Reminds me of what you still see in places down south.

Hahaha oh I love it!

I love playing on the porch.  These people are so awesome.  Especially the clarinet player, Gene Bartell, who used to be a fiddle player.  When I first started coming, he would always encourage me (yell at me), "PLAY"!  I would say I don't know how, I don't know the song.  He would say play anyways, play something!  It doesn't matter if you hit the wrong note.  You wont learn if you don't play.  They all showed great kindness and patience.  I look forward to playing with them all week.

Georganne - @1stimestar - sounds like a great bunch of folks.  Oddly enough I too have a friend who plays a Bb clar, which sounds really interesting when played along with a fiddle.  (Although I don't actually need to, I sometimes re-tune the entire fiddle up by a semi tone with the A string tuned to Bb - (I can hear folks groaning - but- never bust a string yet) it's easier for us to do that than for Pauline to transpose to A or D for a lot of common tunes).  Oh - and talking of playing on the porch - that is exactly what we did here for last years "Play Music on The Porch Day" - did you know about that world-wide get-together ? It's scheduled for 31st August this year.  Website here http://www.playmusicontheporchday.com/ and they also have a FB page...

Thought you and your pals there might be interested....

LOVE IT! Georganne! I may need to put a special detour on our trip to Alaska (in a couple of years) to visit you. Now if Terry will only let me pack the viola....

@1stimestar Amazing! You have a great venue there, what a great group of musicians, and I love the passing the song around. That is, indeed, one of the longest Traveler videos I have seen, and filled with good music. Well done!
