Thanks. I think I have it. I don’t want to get too far off topic of the Traveling Fiddlerman Community Violin here. I will give it another shot after I have practiced.

Ok, I am am going to give this video a try. It is English Country Gardens. I am flat through the entire song, so,think, sharper. LOL I have an issue with the bridge. My bridges have a slightly different curve, I think. I don’t have issues hitting two strings on my violins. Feels like a different curve on the bridge?

Hi @cid

So nice to see you playing The Traveler. I thought you did a fine job! Any of those presents next to your tree violin related?????

I put my 15” viola into a viola case and hung the Traveler on my wall rack in all its glory.

I have been working really hard so the Traveler can be part of The Little Drummer Boy. Hopefully, I will be able to send the video in Sunday. Keep your fingers crossed because I can’t play and keep my fingers crossed. I bought my Santa hat today.

Awesome @cid. I submitted some game of thrones parts with the traveler before the score was changed. It would be awesome to see it in the group project.

Great pics @cid TY - Woo hoo - I see my sig on The Traveler there between the bridge and tailpiece LOL !!!   Lots of lovely instruments !!  After my 5th fiddle - I put a strict moratorium on further purchases (although I am continually tempted!)

The way I "ease my mind" on the issue is this - well, the next instrument(s) will not be a standard fiddle ( wide open doors here - viola, cello (I currently borrow those from a friend), another "fiddle that does not meet my criteria of "standard" - ho ho ho - could be a 3/4 although I already have one and LOVE its presence - don't know why it sounds so good and more importantly PLAYS so "fiddly" (maybe the slightly lower tension on the normal 4/4 strings fitted to a shorter instrument?  Possibly...  But I like it so much for what it does "in its place" I would like another!!!)  Of course, the permanent addition of "Cheryl" ( the Cello - see - I already have a name for her)  would make my life complete ROFL !!! )   Oh, there's no hope for me....

I seriously recommend not copying my mistakes. D'oh - guntohead.JPG

Please make your own, different mistakes, and help us all learn :-)

@Ripton I am working on it. Will be back at it in a minute or two.

@BillyG  There is always hope. 😂 My cellos are Ada and Belle. I haven’t named my electric one yet. Been too busy. I have a couple names in mind. She might be happir after I name her and make her feel part of the family.

Great job cid!  Nice to finally meet you.  Yes, it seems like the bridges are different on most violins.  Just have to play it enough to get used to its special curvature.

Opportunity is often missed because it wears suspenders and looks like hard work.

Admittedly, these are not the best renditions! LOL

If I get Jingle Bells to sound happy, I will post it.

Oh girl, you're on a roll!  Have you tried playing while sitting down?

My knee was already sore from sitting at a family get together at a restaurant for a late breakfast. I really wanted to play her, so I played as long as I could. It was fun. Working on Auld Lang Syne for later.

My knee will be operated on in early Jan. Hoping to be able to get out with the Traveler after that. Until then, it will be just from home. Fingers crossed. It is isn’t an overnight surgery, but will be sore for a while because it is both sides of my knee, not the normal inside side of the knee. Figures. Just a bummer til then.
