If the violin has a spirit finish or a spray on lacquer type of finish, could i use oil base cleaner to clean up the violin?

Good point Erich.

However, I don't think you can damage the sound by cleaning it Pky. You could by re-varnishing. I think one is always safe with an oil based cleaner but not 100% sure....
