For me, after I get a violin and practice enough, I have some song goals I'd like to meet. The songs I dream of learning are: Pachebel's Canon in D (my favorite classical piece) and The Gael/The Kiss off of the Last of the Mohicans soundtrack. These songs move me so much I cry practically every time I hear them.
Do you have any song goals that you are working on? I'm curious to know what everyone is working towards playing. Or songs that really move everyone and are a must play.
Thank you for your time and have a wonderful day.
Take care,
Ashra

My goal is to play Spring like this:
It's not the super prettiest, but I like the BURNING PASSION.
Did you really watch this series??
YES! This series is pure love! . (Believe it!) It totally re-inspired me to play music again. When I first found Nodame, I had a short stint with the french horn, since there were free lessons. Violin is going a lot better, since it's actually what I've always wanted to play. XD
The anime is pretty great too, but I haven't watched the Paris Arcs of either. I had to go cold turkey on J-Dramas so I'd be able to study and haven't picked them up again (yet).

lol I haven't seen the anime, but i'm probably going to watch it now
I watched this series with my friend, a we both play violin and i also play piano so this drama got us to start our own little violin/piano thing and although i live in a different state now, we're both trying to learn Bleach-never meant to belong

wow, anathama, that's awesome! i watched two other songs you posted on you tube, too, they are all great! Thank you for sharing!
As for me, I just pick up a violin on July 30 and am now working on twinkle twinkle, lightly bow, and over the rainbow. No long-term goal yet. probably will try to play children's songs more so I could play for children and songs that i like. Hopefully one day my daughter and I could play duet together, if she continues to like learning violin and i keep up with her. LOL

I had two goals when I first picked up the violin: Snowden's Jig by the Carolina Chocolate Drops and Boccherini's Passa Calle from Master and Commander. While both songs remain goals, I've added quite a few new ones: The Gael, Midnight on the Water, Ashokan Farewell, Willie Taylor as played by Uncle Earl, and the rest of Suzuki Book One. I get closer every day and am having a ball trying to attain my goals.

Anathama is a star
This is me trying to keep up with Anathama
I only got as far as grade 1 toward the end of primary school, taking my exam at 11 years old, but when I went to college briefly as an adult we were playing some intermediate level pieces. I'd quite like to learn something along the lines of Shostakovitch. . . or write and compose something inspired by a piece of Lorca Poetry.
I love it here.

My current goal is to get through Over the Rainbow without mistakes and maybe some vibrato thrown in. My next challenge is Garryowen.
I like the Irish sound and the challenge of playing something faster with all the double stops.
Fiddler man do you have any pointers on playing double stops or is it just practice, practice, practice?
