My violin is a little too bright and i just want to make it mellower. I currently have Daddario Pro arte strings on my violin, but I feel that it is time for a change. Here are the strings that I am considering:

Zyex, Thomastik Dominants, Thomastik Infeld (Red), Thomastik Vision and Pirastro Tonicas. ( I DONT LIKE STEEL CORES lol )

Help me decide please! Give me your inputs on these strings.

(btw i have a CVN-600)

If you're looking for a more mellow sound, then Zyex is the string for you. Of course a lot of it depend's on the violin itself, two identical fiddle's can sound completely different.

I use only Zyex and Pierre/Fiddlerman use's them himself.

Check out, http://www.fiddlershop.com, for assistance, they are very helpfull and expeditious when ordering.

Ohhh.. and welcome to the forum.

The Pro-Arte strings are very mellow but a little on the less powerful side. I like the Zyex for myself. Dominants are fine and used on more fine instruments than any other string type and we (Fiddlershop) have great prices on them as well. Way better than any other shop. Correct me if I'm wrong. :-)
