Hi I saw the review on the Zyex strings at http://www.fidlershop.com. I want to try them but one question first; what is the difference in sound between the DZ310A (aluminum D) and the DZ310S (silver D).

If twangy is a word, that's how I will describe the sounds I make on my old Czech made violin. I have Prelude strings on her now.

Oh, and nice place you have here Mr. Fiddlerman. Your site saved me during a period when I was wondering if I were cut out to play. I'm still here (be it a short time lol) thanks to you.

Happy to hear that you are sticking it out. Don't give up, sometimes when we least expect it we start producing great sounds all of a sudden. :-)

I don't think there is a lot of difference. For me the silver D seems to last longer on other brands. I have never tried the aluminum wound D on the Zyex. With the Dominants that I used to use the Silver lasted but the aluminum didn't. I think it has a lot to do with acidy fingers and such.thumbs-up

I just put the Zyex with the Aluminum wound D string and all I can say is WOW.

I did reset my sound post. the angle was wrong on it and it was way too tight but this violin never sounded so good.  It used to be after a note was played , as soon as you stopped bowing the sound stopped. Now it just goes on and on beautifully.  I can't say enough about these strings. They make playing the viloin very rewarding.

Yes Kevin I agree. Even I can discern a difference.

Fiddlershop shipped them out to me in double quick time. Thank you FM!

smile Unfortunately I had to travel most of last week so I lost several days of practice and had to wait to try them out!
