I often reminisce about how wonderful it would be if my parents were alive now.  There's NO way they could've imagined 7 Great Grandchildren, or me ever picking up a violin & viola.

There's only one piece I ever caught my Father trying to remember how to play on the piano, that wasn't just a little ditty - and I really liked it!  It was Schubert's Marche Militaire... been thinking maybe it's time I should consider learning it.

I might've talked about this for violin, but think it would be so much better on Viola - or Cello!

Found Brian Clement playing it, along with the other pieces from Barbara Barber's series of "Solos For Young Violists: Selections From the Viola Repertoire", Volume 2!

Brian also plays the pieces from Volume 1 and a few from Volume 3, but there are 5 Volumes total for Viola - they include the score for piano accompaniment, but CD's are sold separate.  I've looked at all the selections & there's interesting pieces in the other Volumes, too!

Btw, Brian also plays helpful examples of Suzuki pieces & Wohlfahrt studies for VIOLA (violin, too).

I think I've talked about Dr. Sulbarán elsewhere, but she has great little tutorials for the First Volume of Books!

I took a closer look at Dr. Sulbarán's VIOLA tutorials - I'm VERY impressed.

Cass is GREAT at describing EVERY important detail of playing the 1st Volume of Solos, by Barbara Barber!

This 1st series covers a lot of fundamentals worth refreshing!  From time signatures/modes & key changes, rhythm & dynamics, double stops & intonation, to different bowing techniques & bow distribution.

I can always use more work on double stops, but I really learned some new things I didn't know about bow distribution!
