I got to thinking this morning. There are quite a few articles lurking on this site that would make great news. For example, Fred, better known as ftufc, has just started his new company selling The Slipper™ which I am happily listing on Fiddlershop.

He also trade marked it and built a new website with a shopping cart and all. There is a lot more to it than that but I would like to know if anyone other than me would be interested in interviewing him and allow me to post it under the news link above.

Also many of you will surely have ideas for news as well which I'll probably be happy to include.

Volunteers????? This is where you all say, unfortunately I have to work that day. rofl

In my opinion, DanielB and HeadCheese are the two physically fit persons to do the job.

FM, there's not much interesting about my little venture that I think anyone would find newsworthy that I haven't already shared, but how about an interview on say, Denny and his sailing adventure, or Jim and his worldwide venues/gigs, or your daughter Joanna and her music career, or my daughter Brooke and her music career, or anyone overseas, like Terry or Naska or Chinny or NV or Suresh, and what life is like in their communities???  I think there are a lot of "slice of life" stories on this site that people would find VERY interesting.

I know that there are a lot of qualified writers and interesting people on this site but I need volunteers.

Fred you are wrong and this is the best time to be interviewed. Gives you a great edge for your new business. Also, the fact that you are doing it with your son so that he can pay for his schooling is interesting. Your workshop, the website with no previous experience, your reason for developing a shoulder-rest...... There are many things to write about.

I'm just using you as an example.

First off.. FM is right, Fred.   You're just launching a biz, and people are far more likely to buy hand craftsmanship when they can get to know a bit about the designer or maker.  And content like articles is what can get you hits from search engines when people are looking for something like what you are selling.  People like video and pics and audio and games and such, but search engines see pretty much only the plain text.  Pics of your smiling face may get all the young ladies flocking to your feet, but they won't impress a search engine at all.  LOL  And people are more inclined to read interviews or articles than bio pages.

Second off, you most certainly are interesting, and I am sure people would like to know more about you.  The product is also interesting, and what is buried here in forum threads wouldn't work as good as some easy-to-find information on your main site about why and how your new shoulder rest design was invented and developed.  It would be good and interesting content.  Content is what draws traffic, and traffic is what generates sales on the Internet.

I haven't ever written any interviews.  My professional writing has been limited to web-content (hey, you didn't *really* think website owners actually write all that, did you?), ad copy, information articles, press releases, reviews, and biographies of people considerably more boring than Fred.  In other words, I have worked as what is called in the trade a "hack" writer.  The sort of writer people get when they need something like a 400 word article to put on a webpage  that is informative and just happens to mention the product twice and work certain keywords into the context of the article to draw search engines hits.  So I might not be the best choice for this.  I would agree with FM that (judging from the average literacy level of posts here) there are likely more writers skulking about in these forums and probably some have actual experience with interviewing or some background in journalism.

However.. I would be pleased to be considered as at least one of the volunteers FM can choose from who would be willing to take a shot at an interview with Fred.  That is, provided that Fred is ok with it.

We can't expect FM to do it all, folks.  He already does an awful lot that we all benefit from here.

suresh: I do kinda wonder why I was one of the people that came to your mind for this sort of thing.

Daniel

You use complete sentences, appropriate punctuation, paragraphs, and complex vocabulary. Your personal expression hasn't yet devolved into a conglomeration of witty quips and smileys... unlike some of us who feel a post is incomplete without at least one smiley!laugh

I get it now FM, I was just embarrassed.

Daniel, if you had the time, I think you'd do a great job, I'll make the time whenever works for you.  Thanks!  I just didn't realize it was important.

Are you looking for interviewers or interviewee's?  My associates degree is in journalism to go along with my bachelor's in Public Relations!  I could volunteer some time! hats_off

Hi EJKiszenia!  your name also came to my mind.  But taking into account your health conditions, I did not mention your name.  You would see in my post that I have said 'physically fit' persons.  You are welcome and I am glad about it.

And DanielB, I know you have the capacity to write on anything with substance.  It is evident in your forum postings.
