Not to beat a dead horse (and thereby incur the wrath of dead horse enthusiasts), but there have only been a total of 5 votes cast in the contest to date, And the deadline is only a few days away.
Yeah, I know ... your registration on this site doesn't carry over to the "Dark Side," but we promise never to publish your brief dalliance with a Viola website publicly where somebody might use it to ruin your future political ambitions. (that's what those vacation photos of your trip to Bangkok are for...)
Please take a moment to visit and vote. Since the voting is for Members only, you're the only ones who can do it, and there are a LOT more than 5 folks here... (just sayin')
Note that I'm not even saying that you have to vote for ME. Much as I'd like to win, of course, the real goal is participation and the building of a sister site of the same quality as Fiddlerman.com. This is much bigger than my own personal wishes.
(But, you know ... Vote for me, anyway)

Perhaps, to enter a competition a certain number of posts need to be recorded/a membership level BEFORE the competition is announced,.
This may prevent occurrences like in the last Ad Compaign.
I know this would be counter productive to attracting new people, but what's the point if having someone turn up once.
But then, people will still use the site for tutorials even if they have no interest in asking questions in the Forum.
A dilemma we have.
Should we ask, "what is a competition used for?"
New forum members, or to introduce the site to new people
I am amazed at how old people of my age are.....

Hmmmmm... Dr. Laura, I have a dilemma here. I have been struggling to learn how to play a violin.... Again! Now i'm being asked to insert a 1/4 size cello under my chin, it's true that I can rest the peg stand over my shoulder so a conventional shoulder rest won't be necessary, but the weight on my left arm, woweee.
What shall I do?
All joke's aside, I visited "Violaman.com", a couple week's ago and then again just the other night and watched the three commercial ads for voting. I wanted to see what "HC" was trying to do.
My question at that time was "why would someone come to Fiddlerman and pander / campaign for votes, not just for himself, but for Violaman.com. I must confess I was confused while reading the post's and seeing some of the member name's that are directly linked to Fiddlerman.com., do they play violin or viola. Now after reading what other member's in this Forum have to say, I understand that Violaman does lack in active members and the reasoning behind the campaign for votes.
I have been trying to log onto Violaman.com since 4:15AM and it keeps telling me " Page cannot be displayed". I will keep trying.
When does the contest end ?

I suggest (like I did on chatbox) that only members with a certain number of posts (I dunno maybe 20 is reasonnable) should be allowed to vote, that could discourage any friend making an account just to vote for friend then never come back issue. Also that Pierre use an external voting site (there are free ones) so results are not visible right away (so the vote is fair) and to keep people from voting twice on same IP. The external site would actually put less job on FM's shoulder.
For the participants it's up to FM. Does he wants to offer it to everyone or only active forum members? Does he wants to attract new members with the contest prize or reward the participant active members in making a pub to attract new members? Making contest rules is not fun but helps with fairness. If it was not mentionned that you had to be an active participant for the viola contest then even someone registering just to submit an application should have a chance to win. If people start changing their votes after knowing some facts then scrap the contest because it's tempered with lol.

Two more days for the votes. Whoever did not check out the videos please do so, our violists need your attention! You can pick same username and password for violaman.com so it's no hassle at all!
