Hello all! Seems like there's a great group here! This is my first post so I certainly appreciate any gentle guidance. I used to be a violinist when I was younger, and I'm thinking of selling my old violin, but I am totally oblivious on how to do that. Inside it says, "Made especially for Hans Weisshaar 2001". It has great tone, body, and volume. Physically it's in great shape, with the exception of a small nick, and has been stored well, appropriate humidity, and never fluctuating or extreme temperatures. But that's kind of all I have. How do I approach selling something like this. Do I need an appraisal? Should I contact Hans Weisshaar? I appreciate any help you can offer! Thank you!

@JeffreyKim, I would encourage you to join the folks here on FiddlerMan.com and not sell the violin. There is a lot of fun and satisfaction in playing and sharing your experiences here.

If you really want to sell the violin, I'd contact the shop whose name is inside at http://www.hweisshaar.com/ They appear to have shops in the US and in Berlin Germany.

I would suggest you start by taking nice pictures and sharing them here.

Appraisals are difficult without looking inside the instrument as well, and not knowing exactly who made it.
