How do you bow "tenuto"?

I am learning Elgar's "Six Easy Pieces" and the third and sixth pieces have some phrases where the notes have a horizontal line either above or below them.  I did a little research and find it is called "tenuto".  How do you bow these notes?

Hold the note the full length of the beat.  Kind of opposite of staccato. 


Opportunity is often missed because it wears suspenders and looks like hard work.

It depends on what you are playing. Show us the sheet music.
Basically you will play the longest notes (holding) possible before the beginning of the next note. With the violin you have many options. Seperate bows are one but connecting, slurring with separation is also a great option.
