This tutorial will show you how to play a two octave C major scale on the violin and fiddle and also explain some of the reasons that we play scales. Start by playing long even steady strokes while concentrating on each and every tone. Listen very carefully to the sound production as well as intonation. Try to perfect the scale as much as possible and to memorize what your hand feels like with the position of each and every finger on all four strings. Eventually these finger patterns will come by themselves though the work towards perfection is forever. Use your warm up time for relaxed enjoyable calm playing. Don’t be in a hurry to speed up the tempos. The opportunity to play fast will come and the perfection will be better after having devoted quality time to your scales.
