Swedish ‘Keyed Fiddle’ is a work of art

It may look like a sculpture, but the nyckelharpa is a traditional Swedish instrument that dates to sometime around 1350. It has 16 strings, 37 wooden keys and is played with a bow.

When my musician friend Patton James called me and said, “John there is a friend of mine that is visiting me from Sweden. He plays something called the nyckelharpa. I have never heard or seen any instrument like this. It is amazing.”
