@Fiddlerman

I am up for any song you choose for X-mas. ...

but.. my two cents....

My only suggestion to make it easy on yourself and for others this very very busy time of year is to select something that is a old favorite...  something that many would already be familiar...with tempo.

I think you'll get a bigger response in a short time if it is kept simple for the Holidays.  (even Jingles Bells, (easy version).. How about something you already have sheet music for????

Let me know if I can help do anything.

Cheers and thank you for the Addams Family project.  Outstanding work with composition, and planning!  The videos were great and YOU ROCK!!!!!!!!!

Much love and sunshine and have  a FANTASTIC vacation.

I was thinking about John Lennon's "Happy Xmas" (War Is Over) as a project.
Ideas?

That's a great one.  There is a lot of different voices that sound like they would be easily adapted to many violin parts.  It's got my vote.

I won't have time to do it before my trip guys. If anyone has or can find a four part sheet music or would like to volunteer for the job, I'm happy for it. I'll be back in a couple weeks. :)
If at that time no one has volunteered and posted sheet, I'll take over.

About Christmas, i'm ok with any song you guys choose - i'm not very much familiar with those melodies you usually play on Christmas, but we have to keep in mind that the longer we'll make a choice - the easier piece it probably should be =)

Pierre, wish You the GREAT HOLIDAYS!!!

Thanks A Lot, Everybody!!!!!

With regard to the Christmas song, my only request would be to choose something that is not in a key with flats. All the parts of both Addams Family and House of the Rising Sun involved B flat or other notes fingered with 1st finger low, and I still haven't learned that. I've pushed my luck enough by learning 3rd finger high and 2nd finger low "out of sequence", and I dare not confuse my fingers any further!

Thanks!

How Do I Get...A FORUM BADGE....for the Halloween Group Project???

I wrote Yesterday 27/Oct/2015... BUT A reply appears to be overlooked... As a lot of post are in.

BODY OF POST

I have NOT Been given ... A Forum Badge ......For the Group Project.I have clearly participated in. And have Two (2) listed credits on the video

For the recent and Published 2015 Fiddlerman Addams Family Halloween Project.   My Violin Video submission "Was USED" with "Visual Omission" of my... Spining Halloween PUMPKIN Wheel" attached to my outfit at my waist.

Additionaly ... My Name as a Cello Player... Also appeared on the Credits...BUT Under Violin four (4).. When it was Cello One (1).  .....Sadly for myself my playing the cello was NOT Seen.  Or my Separate Finger Snaps.   and my Name PlayAgain was separated into two separate words.

However, the Halloween Show Piece is Fun... Despite the hicks that only myself & my family care about.

Please tell me how do I obtain a Project Participant Forum Badge????

Hi guys, I don't know how much help this will be, but I did a search on Musescore for Christmas songs that have 4 parts (violin): https://musescore.com/sheetmus.....=christmas

christmascandleVIOLIN QUARTET (I'm including flute here as I understand violins can play flute parts?!)

8 notes also has these two:

christmaswreathVIOLIN + OTHER STRINGS (e.g. viola, cello)

If we needed something ready-to-go, what about Silent Night or Hark the Herald Angels Sing? (Or are these too boring for the more advanced players?) I don't think they've been done before, but as a new member, please correct me if I'm wrong!

Great work finding all those @RedViolin - and I'll just mention @iBud here because I was following some posts between him and Pierre - he's a prodigious writer / composer having posted many of his works here - and I have a "suspicion" iBud may be trying to pull something together in FM's absence - but - it's just a "suspicion".   Thought I would mention that in case others may also be thinking about it.   I was even going to "have a shot" at arranging something, but, part harmonization is JUST at the limit of my theoretical ability right now, and I doubt if a "first attempt" at doing this would succeed......

I know that (a) FiddlerMan is off on a well deserved holiday what with the huge amount of effort he puts in, not only in personally responding to more than 1 in every 7 posts of the 73,000+ on the forum, and (b) things have been "fraught" what with the recent server issues affecting not only our "fun" here, but his business as well.

If all else fails, there's still no reason why we just can't arrange an impromptu "Party" where we just submit our own videos of any Xmas piece we want - whatever happens we'll do something !!!!

I seriously recommend not copying my mistakes. D'oh - guntohead.JPG

@RedViolin  Cool resources for music!

I don't mind waiting until Fiddlerman gets back from vacation for a musical choice.

Aloha @BillyG,

Thanks for the compliment (although I do write a lot of stuff, I'm not sure I would describe myself as "prodigious" - that would imply lots of "good" stuff cool), but wait until you see what I have to submit before you go too far hahaha  In this song, "Happy Christmas (War is Over)", the harmonization is already given, so it's jus a matter of noting it down.  Thank you John Lennon!  Actually, I found a MuseScore arrangement that, while the arranger needs a lesson or two in harmony, gives me more than enough to get started.  I'll burn the midnight oil to get something within the next couple of days.  I just hope I don't let everyone down.  Arranging music for one of our projects is a rather heady responsibility.  I just hope I don't screw it up facepalm  I've never done anything like this (arrange for an actual event).

Oh man, listen - @iBud - I'm sure you'll do great - as I said myself I was kind of thinking about it - but I just KNOW it is pushing my limits....  listen though - if you want to do it in MuseScore I am more than happy to review, give feedback, edit, help, update or whatever to get it off the ground......  we cannot exchange .mscz files here although they appear to be a permitted file type, only admins see them as far as I can tell - but I'll PM you with my email if you want to exchange and share your arrangement or feedback !!!!

Thank you so much for getting involved !!!   1st-place1st-place1st-place

Aloha @BillyG,

I didn't see this reply until after I posted in the Share forum.  I included Violins 1-4, Viola, and Cello.  I did it in MuseScore, but submitted the .mp3 and .pdf files (with the complete score).  Go over there and take a look, then let me know what you think.

Ironically, I am subbing for the Addams Family musical, in Auckland, New Zealand this week!

Sorry I found this too late to take part.
