Mine was not used in the mix, I wonder if it’s not good enough? Or something I didn’t do right?

I discovered this proj (and this forum) just on Saturday and rushed to practice Violin Part 2 over the weekend, then submitted via email on Monday evening. I wish I had found this proj earlier so that I can practice more to play it better.

That being said, I had a lot of fun working on it.

I Started to learn Violin from last Feb, as a beginner, this is the first time I play something that is not from the Suzuki book and have to arrange how the bow goes all by myself (those notes with 6 beats are killing me......).

I hope there will be more group projects coming up!

@Olivia X. No videos are ever not good enough if submitted correctly. Unfortunately, you emailed your video. In the instructions Fiddlerman says to use Google Drive and other options to submit. The videos are too large for him to receive via email.

There are also specific formats the video needs to be. If you videoed on an Apple device, it was most likely a .mov format. You would have to change that to an mp4, or other acceptable format. To do that you can create yourself a shared album in your own photo, albums. Upload it into your shared album. Them download it back to your camera roll. It will download back to your camera roll album as an mp4.

You also must be listening to the click track for your part that is provided by Fiddlerman at the project page that has the submission requirements and all the music downloads. You must use a headset so the clicks do not show up in your recording. The click track keeps you in time so your video can be merged in with all the others. You must listen to it while playing.

But, rest assured, no video submitted, that follows the instructions will be considered not good enough, as far as I know. Fiddlerman has a magic wand, I think. I did not hear my missed notes and scratchiness. 😁

I certainly hope you try again and, please read the specific instructions that will appear at the beginning. If you have any questions, ask in that project thread with plenty of time for a reply.

I hope this helps and you try again. This was my first time participating. It was fun, and I will do it again, and I hope you do, too.

Sorry to hear that @Olivia x. - something just occurred to me - I seem to recall you wrote that you had emailed a contribution ?   If you really did mean that ( i.e. actually emailed the video, and not sent using "sprend" or "dropbox" or something similar ) - it may never have been received (video files are large and will not pass through some mail systems directly) - that's just a possibility!

You can always PM @Fiddlerman directly and just ask him - he doesn't bite  - and if there WAS a problem, I'm sure he'll explain !

Don't feel dis-heartened - there's always another project !!!

** EDIT ** LOL - great minds think alike @Mouse - you beat me to it LOL

@BillyG ”** EDIT ** LOL - great minds think alike @Mouse - you beat me to it LOL”

I would worry about that, if I was you. LOL

Hey, @BillyG I think I will get a Group Project Badge out of this, if the badges are still distributed.

Sent my vln2 and 3 via sprend, but (luckily birthday_balloon) my video wasn't included either. Don't know if the noise I made was included :)

@BillyG @Mouse

Thank you for your reply. I sent a dropbox link via email. And I transformed the video into MP4 format. I also played following the tempo of the playback soundtrack. I wonder if my email went to Pierre's spam folder, or I submitted it too late, it was over 11 pm in California......

But I PM'd Pierre to figure it out, so that I can fix the issue next time. :)

By the way, nice job everyone. The mix sounds great and very Christmassy. thumbs-up

@olivia x.  - yup - sure looks like you did the right things there.   As you say - could possibly have arrived too late or hit the spam folder.   As I say - there's always another project !

And, since we're talking about such things - ( and this is to anyone interested in participating in these projects ) - if you use "sprend" to do the upload - remember - if you are a guest-user of sprend without an actual account - the upload only remains on the sprend server for a few days - so potentially - it CAN be missed (sprend WILL have sent an advisory email to the recipient - BUT - if it's not picked up in the few days sprend keeps it for - it is removed).   So,  if the recipient is really busy, or away on business/holiday etc etc it may not be seen.   Worth keeping in mind.

My new year's resolution will be to get some recording gear ready for next Christmas,

and play more parts than @BillyG, even if I have to write 'em myself, lol!

(I've got a friend I can borrow a cello from!)

@Gordon Shumway Alf is getting a little competitive. So true to Alf form. Thanks for the Alf memories. Love your comment, Alf.

Awesome @Gordon Shumway - THAT'S the spirit !!!!   ( Haha, my approach to this (getting more folks involved) was (a) friendly, but annoyingly persistent persuasion or (b) if that didn't work, just the threat of boring 'em all to death in the credits.  ROFL )
