@Fiddlerman Did you know the click track on the pge with the sheet music for the 2024 project is not the right song? It is playing "It's Beginning tomLook a Lot Like Christmas". That is what your chat entry is linked to, also.

I duplicated last years post to make it easier to create this one, then I replaced the relevant items. I didn't get to making the click track yet, thus I forgot to remove the link. Funny enough, I remembered to change the title. lol
It's one of those, coming soon situations. lol
Removed the link yesterday evening. Thanks for pointing that out.

Very cool! A project I do believe I can play, at least at the speed I am doing, which is about as fast as I will be able to play it. From my times hearing it, it is about as fast as my CD versions, so I am not playing it slow. Cool. AND this is on violin, not cello. I will see if I can get through it with cello, too, after I get the violin down pat. Cool.

The keys are great!

I posted the first click track. Let me know if this works for you all before I go ahead and do the other options with single instruments.

I must went through it with the click track three times. Very nice! I do have problems with the A and E string, so the second time through is extremely hard right now, but I will work on it.

I have a hard time when not playing melody parts because it messes me up from how I know a song too much, You know, "Can't teach and old dog new tricks" sort of thing, so I will work on that part of the song. The first sections are fine, even the part before the repeat I had trouble with at first.

Thanks, Fiddlerman!

Just worked on the second section with the mostly A and E strings again. Getting there. I really really like this. I tried the second violin part, it is a no go.

The tempo is great, please do not increase the tempo one iota! That is my max and I think it is perfect throughout the song.

Anyone else try it with the click track yet? You will love it. I need to get it down early because I might be pretty busy this year as we get closer to the Holidays, so I am spending a lot of time on it now.

For right now, I can understand. Give it some time as it is super early in the game. We'll have tutorials, and click tracks with individual parts.

I don't plan on increasing the tempo just yet. Maybe, possibly, I'll change my mind later, but for now, we are keeping this tempo. That is why I finalized the click track.

I LOVE the harmony for this!

Is it too late to ask about adding something?

Didn't think about saying anything earlier, because I couldn't fully appreciate the score until I heard the click track.

I have only recently been paying any attention to song structure (and I realize this is a hymn), but wondered what you think about adding an intro, a bridge (before the key change), and outro (or coda)?

I don't think it needs to be much to have a HUGE impact... maybe two measures (each)?  They could be a slightly slower tempo and/or the verses could be adjusted a few BPM faster (for dramatic, but natural-feeling contrast).

...not trying to upset the apple cart - just figured it can't hurt to ask (?) 😬

I don't think it has to feel 'celtic' like this version from Celtic Woman, but I haven't learned enough about 'early' music to suggest anything specific.

Also, don't think an intro, bridge & outro (or coda), needs to be as long, or 'elaborate', as this version by The Gibson Sisters (based on The Piano Guys version) - to be effective.

@Fiddlerman,

It’s perfect!  I love it!  It works for me, for sure.  Thank you. 😊

But I should add that I never have trouble with click tracks, and I also love metronomes.  Maybe the input of folks who feel less comfortable with click tracks would be more useful.

I especially love that you’ve left us a bit more lead time at the start of the click track this year, so there’s less of a mad rush to transition from starting the track to grabbing the bow and playing.

This arrangement is absolutely magnificent!!!

Sounds great thumbs-up

I was thrown off a little by your count at the beginning – you say “Start” right on the upbeat note– was expecting to start on the beat following your verbal “Start”. No big thing though smile

No and yes. If I make changes now, I have to reupload all the parts and click track.

It's obviously nicer to do stuff like that, but as a group project that is mixed digitally, I prefer not to at this point. Tempo changes are easy with live groups, but try to get that on a click track and have all the players follow that change is very difficult.

Thank you for the suggestions though. I would have considered it more if I hadn't already posted a more or less ready product. :)

True. I figure people will listen to it a few times before starting. LOL
There is that pick-up. Maybe I should have said, 1, 2, start,...... on the pickup measure.
