Essential elements is a ton of fun, playing along to the cds! - I have fumbled through suzuki and been so totally in fits when I tried to find play along on youtube only to be confronted with a 2 year old playing it through like a champ!

My Essential Elements didn’t come with any discs. Was I suppose to order discs with it? I didn’t see anything about it on the Amazon listing.

well Im not sure - mine had a cd stuck in the back...I popped them into iTunes, then let them play and just kept up with them (well some of them!)

maybe they are on youtube or something... if not, I can prob email/dropbox them to you...it sometimes makes it a bit more fun to try and play along with something and hear the notes - which I definitely needed! I am not sure what a real teacher would say...

Seriously, you are too kind. ? I think I might have found the videos in a playlist on YouTube. Are these the correct videos?

I believe so, then you can kind of play along I found it helpful, mine sound a touch different like this, but the principal is the same - sometimes when I got a little bored of listening to myself, or felt I want sure what the note sounded like, it did help!

It's available with and without the CD. Costs a bit more with the CD though.

I just received my violin today and it’s gorgeous but boy, am I lost. You think you prepare yourself and research enough but when it’s actually in front of you, it’s a little overwhelming. I am not sure how to put the shoulder rest on. I am pretty sure I need it as no matter how I hold the violin, I cannot get it to stay under my chin/Do you get neck tension without holding it with my hands. I am currently looking for videos on how to put a shoulder rest on. I know I already put too much rosin on my bow as there is powder everywhere ?. I am so glad this came with a mute because hearing it in person is a heck of a lot louder. Not sure why I wasn’t expecting it to be this loud lol. Guess I’ll be getting back at my neighbors for their constant yelling. ?

EDIT: I got the shoulder rest on and it’s so much more comfortable. Now I feel like I might just be holding it correctly. ?

The videos I linked you were the correct one. I got my violin today and worked on the first four pages just now and the videos matched them perfectly. ? I’ll eventually download them and put them on my phone to play while working on the book.

Yes! I am so happy it's finally here!! I sound terrible but I do love this violin so much. Btw, your shoulder rests are super comfortable. I am not sure I am using the mute properly because I do not notice a difference in volume. My son was set that next school year he wanted to take up the cello but now that he has seen and held my violin he is saying he wants to take up the violin now. He is only 10 so it would be wonderful for him to start young. I do hope he gets into an instrument next year. He was so excited for me the whole time I was waiting for the violin. He understands how much I wanted this and was probably just as excited as I was to get it. Thanks so much, Pierre. I honestly cannot thank you enough. You have some quality products. thanx_gif

Very cool.
Press the mute down on the bridge firmly. It should make a difference.

Amanda, did you get the interactive version of Essential Elements?  If so look inside the front cover or on the title page.  There should be a website and a code for you to use.  It will lead you to all the play alongs in the book.  It is a good book to start with!  Once you start playing hopefully the Suzuki book will make more sense as well.

Yes! I just signed up for the site yesterday however, the videos don't seem to line up with the pages in the book at all. It's like they gave me videos for a different book entirely. I might contact their support. Thank you!!
