Kevin's helping the last of the Aircraft from our local Air Show get on their way home, today.
So...
Ever see a fiddle demand it's freedom & just fly away?
From the series I mentioned in the Traditional Irish Styles Fiddle Playing Thread - one episode I didn't share, Come West Along The Road - S14E04, shows Joe Burke playing a great "Fly By Night Hornpipe" on accordion. I believe it's the 4th version of the sheet music shown at the Session - "Fly By Night" - says in F dorian mode, but the 2nd half loses the Bb & Ab, so changes to the "A" Blues scale!
Found Fergal Scahill playing this version, but the key change doesn't quite sound as distinct to me - still really nice.
"Violincopter" by Alejo Pesce - see video description for parts list!
"See Emily Fly", a Slide written & played on tin whistle (?) by Gian Marco Pietrasanta - great tune in Bm with sheet music at the Session - "See Emily Fly"
...Gian Marco said he was inspired by Pink Floyd's "See Emily Play" - which I LOVE!
Do a little flying on your fiddle!

In case anyone is interested, the "Fly By Night Hornpipe" IS fun to play! I've spent a good amount of time learning it today, but it's a challenge - it's all I can do to hang in there at half speed, so I'll have to spend more time on this.
Guess I'll have to wait to "See Emily Fly"... maybe a few days... or weeks. (lol)
Kevin's been suspiciously eyeing my violin - I told him NO, he can't take it apart to turn it into a Violincopter! 🤨

🤣 wow, 2 years... had forgotten about the cool flying violin - makes it sound like a swarm of bees is the accompaniment!
I still play the Fly By Night (hornpipe) once in a while, but I don't remember taking time to learn See Emily Fly (slide) - so figured it was time to start. Was surprised to see that Gian Marco presented notation for this in 2 (unexpected) keys - Bm & Amix. VERY different sounding (still prefer Bm, I think)!
Anyone else ever search for a tune to learn, by title... related to a personal passion?
