Just wondered if anyone else was seeing this or just me.
When I go to the forum index, it shows that I'm not logged in - but when I press the 'login' button nothing happens.
However, if I go into a post or a forum my avatar appears and it shows me logged in (and if you can see this I'm able to post).
I've tried deleting all cookies but no change.

There is some kind of glitch, where if you go to just fiddlerman.com/forum you get taken to an unsecure version of the site. You can't log in, but can access the chat. If you go to fiddlerman.com and click the forum link, it will take you to the secure version that you can log into.

Ah, that explains a lot. For a while this month I seemed to be unable to log in (exact same thing happening as Jim described), so could only post from my phone which was already logged in.

..........I don't know if there is anything that I can do on my side. If anyone knows, please let me know.
On my server there's a setting in Plesk that turns on 'automatic redirect to https'. If you enable that, any traffic requesting http:// will automatically be taken to the secure https:// page.
If you don't have access to the server settings, you could maybe ask your web host to enable it. It prevents anyone connecting to the server insecurely.

I found this after reading your post, Jim. http://www.fiddlerman.com redirects to the secure URL https://fiddlerman.com, but fiddleman.com/forum or https://fiddlerman.com/forum/ do NOT redirect to the secure URL, so there IS still a problem. So right now, the only way to get to the forum securely is to log into the fiddlerman website and click the forum link from there.

Another way is to change your bookmark so it links to the https:// version of the forum - that's what I've done and it works fine.

That's what I did too, but it doesn't solve the security problem for others who may not be aware of it. Ideally, it needs to be set up so that no matter how a person comes to one of the pages within the site and/or how they bookmark it they are going to the https of that page. But, you already know that.
Probably best at this point is for Fiddlerman to check his cPanel settings, beyond the Wordpress settings, or contact his hosting company, because it is only the main URL "fiddlerman.com" that will redirect to the secure https no matter how you type it or bookmark it. The links (Videos/Tutorials, Sheet Music, Learning Tools, Blog, etc) will only go to https if clicked from within the site. If any of them are typed or bookmarked as http, they do not go to https. That needs to be cleaned up.
