@Barry

Barry

Thanks for the feedback mate. Have just been looking up some open string bowing exercises. Will get onto it. thumbs-up

@Fiddlestix

Ken

Yes, have been trying to get more into that tune. Have tried playing parts louder and quieter and it's not working for me. Some of the problem there could the the auto audio levelling in my recording hardware. Will try adding a slur here and there see how it goes.

I was looking at a video yesterday of it being played in a 'bluegrass' style. It was just so 'wrong' rofl

Toni

Stick to your guns there girl. It'll happen in time. I envy your ability to play from sheet music :)

I had wine.. But anyway.. Here is Minuet with a bit more bow.. Not a lot of errors fixed.. Just a bit of tone/sound  back. If that makes sense..

Barry said
I just started learning that piece as a sight reading exercise yesterday smile your tone is much better

Yes Toni. What Barry said........ Except that I'm not actually learning that piece LOL

It sounded better. But may I suggest that you do as I did and look at some of your recent posts again, such as Silent Night, Green Sleeves, and Auld Lang Syne and tell me what you hear. Be brutally honest and let me know.

Great forum. I love reading all your thoughts and seeing the results of progress that comes from this type of interaction.
I'll save my critique for now because I'm enjoying your performances too much. :)

Sorry I haven't got back to you.

I'm away out in the boonies with only 'sometimes' internet.

Will be back tomorrow. Will talk to you then

My own comment... You can tell when I try to play with a track I start getting a wonky bow ... In the beginning I was focused on it... But then tried to catch/keep up and concentrate on that. In the end, I biffed anyway. Bow is getting straighter.. At least more attention.. My left hand is more relaxed.. Flying pinky is slowly a thing of the past.

John.. I will get that now closer to the bridge... I haven't reworked that part out yet. Playing far from it comes from over compensating when I used to play too close.   :)

There are just a lot of inconsistencies .  I dug this  song (Sad Romance) up recently to get it pretty... I hope I can.  PS... Yes I have a quilt hanging on my white tab curtains.. Triple digit heat and that big patio door faces where the sun sets. .. Not very couture decor.  Ha!

@coolpinkone

Toni.... I genuinely enjoyed it. The bowing and all is coming together.

That sounded really good. Once you got over the 'wobbly' start it was great. The 'wobbly' finish happens to us all at times

So if you just take out 'wobbly' start and finish, you are left with the part that was great :)

BTW... I wouldn't have noticed the curtains if you hadden't mentioned them ;)

@Ferret thanks... I will keep at it and see what I can post in a week or so. Thanks!!

Ok Barry will do.   I will keep at the intonation thing.  I know  I play a lot of songs and my first finger gets off pitch.. And as I play my third finger on the d string and a string gets off.

I use a tuner and check .. But I will put the ten minutes in now.  I confess it is about 1-2 minutes... Barely enough ... So I will work on that.

I can't wait to get the tilt thing corrected.  I will keep on practicing to get that more flat.

Excited to  wake up and work on these things.

Today I will work with Thaxted and the click tract.  Intensely.

 Thanks Barry.  I am set up for practice today.  Got up early to do some trial and error cooking... I am busting out chores to have a good practice.

I made some flash card to hang on my practice stand.

SCALES - TONE - BOW TILT - notes so I will work on my issues.exactlybegbeg

Some days practice is scary because I know I will fall short of what I am aiming to do.drooling

Not saying I haven't already played today.... I messed with Swallow tail at the end of my bed.sleep... then mopped...then went in and did a few runs on Sad Romance... Dusted....a few dry runs on Thaxted...which I think sounds just fine. (that opinion will change when I play with click track).facepalm

Thanks for the support man! You rock.

I am up for this Barry. I have a few things I am working on.  I owe it to myself to try to post and get some feedback. I really want to improve.

I need a bit to figure out what I am working on for  critique... and I will be ready to deal with feedback. :)
