Currently working on getting badges to show up horizontally. Should hopefully figure that out within a week. Thanks for your patience.

I wasn't camera worthy on Sunday.
I thought I could put this out for some critique. It is just an audio. Thanks.
Vibrato Desperato.... Desperately seeking vibrato

Hi, I've just played this in my lessons and I was having issues with the counting in a few bars so my teacher drew little lines above the bar, 3 lines dividing the bar up to help me count and play the notes the right length. I agree using a metronome would help or have someone stand by you and clap out the 3 beats per bar. Aside from the counting it sounds good!

@mischa91 thank you. You were the motivation for me to re address this song.
I worked a bit with a metronome last night.. I don't know why I have such a block but I am going to get this right.
Thank you..
@Fiddlerman thank you so very much. Yes. I do recall that lesson... I just loose my timing on parts. I hope in a few weeks to have some improvement by using your tutorial and some of the other videos of people performing that song.
Thanks again for the help!

Thank you..
I'm glad I inspired you to pick this song up again, it's quite a nice piece. I have a metronome but find it quite hard to use, almost like I try to listen to the metronome and forget to actually count the length of the notes in my head. Plus mine is so quiet I can't hear it over my loud violin.
Keep working at it, I'd love to hear it from you again.

Thanks Fiddlerman. Great feedback. After my first official StreetJelly appearance in which my instructor was watching, we focused on timing and rhythm. I readily admit this is an ongoing problem from me. (Remember Steve Martin's opening scene in his movie "the Jerk", dancing on the front porch of the homestead, well that's me).. I'm going to have to watch your response for CPO a few dozen more times. Any other suggestions for videos on this?

Hi coolpinkone,
One other thing that may help is to "hum" the music to yourself as you read it .. that way you can focus on the rhythm and the beat instead of trying to do that and play it at the same time. Once you've got it down in your head, then go ahead and do it on the violin
Hope this helps!!
~Bunkei

@Bunkei .. yes.. that definitely helps. I can hear what I am doing wrong... and hopefully that is on my way.
I also went and numbered all the notes..(I had this one memorized so I had not looked at the sheet for months and months)..... 1 2 3 1 2 +3 1 2 3 1 2 +3 +
Thank you everyone.

I haven't given up on this.
I am starting to get the break down a bit better.
Not sure why I am posting this today... it wasn't the best for sure, and I played a lot.
I do watch Pierre tutorial ... today I was just playing from my head so I wasn't watching my sheets that have the timing...
Anyway..let me have it.
@Fiddlerman I thank you for the help. Your video not only helped to break it down but it makes me want to add the character to make it better. I don't know why the progress is slow...but its getting there...

Toni,
You did great! I personally think your tempo is great. You are a little off on your counting at the last three measures of the first section but you corrected yourself during repeat.
There’s an accidental on C in section two so both C are C# Thus, they are played on high two on A string. In measures 22 and 23, there two F#s so they are played on high two on D string.
Try to add dynamic to your playing, also section two should be repeated, too.

Thanks for sharing this @coolpinkone
You've kind of inspired me to (maybe!) put up a recording of my own, as this is the song I'm tackling out of book 1 now, and it's the first that I'm trying on my own (i.e. I 'learned' the others many years ago with the help of a teacher).
I was really impressed with your speed - I'm still bowing along at a snails pace...!

@RedViolin thank you so much for listening. And I hope I can inspire instead of frighten folks.. LOL... You will get it. I hope to get it also. I am telling myself to continue to learn, but that song needs to be just right. I am not sure why, I can't imagine playing it.. but I guess because I started it and I need to make it right.
@pky thank you so much. I really appreciate you helping me. IT is the only way I am going to get that song right.
I knew there was an Accidental in there... I thought I was getting it.. will work on that and sharpening those F's as well. Thank you so much. I heard the second part repeated I didn't know. ( I know ... look at the sheet.) I have been off the sheet for that for over a year.... I looked again not too long ago for the tempo... looks like I will readdress the notes. Thank you thank you..

Thank you Jim. I am enjoying it. As a Bach piece.
I do need to add that Metronome. I know this much is true. I have one and I need to just get used to it.
I am going to keep trying and make you all proud and nail this one sooner or later.
I did find this guy on youtube that plays it. (it isn't dynamic or place with the Zest that I like.. as Pierre plays it, but it did help me get out of super tempo trouble... )

@coolpinkone I also have to thank @Fiddlerman for his video, I found it really helpful even though I am so completely rubbish at counting and playing still! But it did inspire me to try using the metronome (the one on the Fiddlerman site) for the first time ever! Still not sure I've come at all close to the knack of how to use a metronome though...!
Thanks for sharing that video too @coolpinkone. I've been listening to a lot of them on YouTube - here's a video I found from a playlist that features all of the Suzuki Book 1 pieces including Minuet 1 https://www.youtube.com/watch?.....gQ9KRh0YWc
There's also this lesson: I found the "I like icecream" suggestion useful
And this playalong: (fast version: )
A quote for you @coolpinkone: "musical education begins with this minuet, with Bach as [your] teacher" - Shinichi Suzuki I'm confident you will nail this too!
