I decided to give the AU$32.00 'Aldi Supermarket' Violin that I bought on eBay a bit of a 'once over' .
As you can see in the first video, the original paper tags where still on the violin. Someone must have bought it and resold it before it ever got to be used.
It sounded OK but I decided to try getting it to sound a bit better.
I put a set of Pirastro Chromcor strings that I had in the bits and pieces draw on it.
The string afterlength was wrong according to the standard measurements so i put a new tailpiece on to correct it.
I cut a new bridge for it to the shape that I like and made it a bit thinner than the original.
The sound post seemed to be OK so I left it alone
Its the instrument that i now keep at our cabin out in the boonies. I didn't want to leave an expensive violin out there so this one got the job
I think that there has been an improvement. What do you guys and gals reckon?
The original (out of box) setup
The re-setup
Seen it all. Done it all. Can't remember most of ..... What was I saying????
