@BillyG and others.

I spent some time looking through my image file and found what I was talking about.  I think it would be relatively easy to make a non invasive quick mount arrangement of this idea.  ......

TYVM @Irv - yup - I have a good picture in my head on that now.

Oh - and I'm sure your grandson will appreciate the instrument and attention to detail you put into it !  Well done ! ( And of course, wishing you and yours a contented and peaceful time over the upcoming holiday period!  Cheers! )

I seriously recommend not copying my mistakes. D'oh - guntohead.JPG

@BillyG and others.  The task (with a restricted time line) needed to be done anyway. The incremental labor to “blog” it was trivial for me.  I am thankful that Fiddlerman supports the forum that allows such things to be posted.  There is a lot of items here that could be put to some use by others.  Recognition of value on a “free good” is another topic entirely.

@Irv   Thanks for this, it inspired me to change the bridge on my daughters Violin. She hasn't wanted to play it much recently so I thought a little upgrade would make it more special. I got a fitted Aubert bridge and followed Fiddlerman's video on resurrecting a fallen bridge to install the new one. Its much better than the previous.

@Fashionandfiddle and others.

I am glad you tried it.  The fit of bridge on small student violins is pretty bad.  I can’t imagine attempting to play on some that I have seen.  The roasting of the wood for the bridge is easy, is something that I find interesting, and works well.

An update.  My grandson brought his new found “cello” rosin to school today to treat his bow there.  He loves that stuff.
