Gordon Shumway is an active member of the Fiddle Talk Forum. We know very little about Gordon, other than what we read in the many wonderful posts he has contributed. He is now contributing an interview.

First, Gordon Shumway, let's get this out of the way right now. We have something in common, fans of Alf, (aka Gordon Shumway) Fess up, are you really Alf? One of my favorite TV characters? I remember talking with you about Alf on the forum when I first saw your display name on a post and you said that you were an Alf fan. I know I have referred to you as Alf periodically on the forum, but I am not sure how you like it, so I try to hold back. Are you still a fan?

Yeah, I'm still a fan, although I didn't like the movie as much the second time I saw it. I don't have the DVDs any more. Some of those old DVD boxset releases were clumsy  and bulky (mine were either German or Spanish imports) and I have been replacing some of the ones I like with BluRays when it's obvious that they are sleeker.

I will add that 'Allo 'Allo and Lovejoy tie at number one for my favourite TV of all time, although Xena is a close third.

I also recommend rams' testicles, if you already like kidneys.

And I just remembered that pizzicato tore the fingerboard away from the neck of my first VSO and so I bought a Stentor on Oct 1st 2018, which means I'd been bowing for about a fortnight before my first lesson, where I was taught martelé to give me more confidence!

Also I forgot to add that by 1975 my favourite piece of vinyl was Maurice Hasson playing Pag 1 and Prok 2 (I always preferred Prok 2 to Prok 1), never available on CD and still available on vinyl, lol.

And finally, I do not dance. Ever. I dance like a three-legged wardrobe. It's one way of responding to music. Playing an instrument is another. You don't have to do both.

All good stuff. And I was going to suggest that we all go out dancing when we see each other on Thursday. LOL

A Greek taverna might be your only chance there, not that I know any good ones!

BTW, I was reminded by the lightning section in the interview of something similar I devised at work years ago - one of the questions was: -

Gordon Shumway or Gordon Sumner?

&BTBTW, there's one reply to the interview, and it's by a spammer, @Fiddlerman ! (i.e. admin)

(I hope the Atlantic crossing wasn't too rough)

Thanks Gordon, it was super smooth the whole way. We're at our last stop in Canada today, Halifax, Nova Scotia. After that, just one sea day before our arrival in Boston.

And I hope you both got over your stomach upsets before the cruise began.

And I hope Southampton wasn't too bad, lol!

Thanks,
Fortunately, I never had any stomach issues on this trip, but Asa is fine now. 🙂
We ended up canceling Southhampton and extending out stay in London since London is so fantastic. 🙂
