It's not a chin rest, it's a cheek rest.

Watch videos of Yehudi Menuhin when he was old. It's quite impressive how far to the right he holds his chin, while his jowl covers the rest and overflows.

Yes, I know but they call it a chin rest. Odd.

They should call it a jowl bucket.

So I watched a video in a post that @Gordon Shumway posted. I experimented. I played Ashokan Farewell on my viola with my Fiddlerman Pro Series Violin Bow. I actually found this to be better.

I posted it the Share an Audio

10 pm and I just pulled lasagna out of the oven. Two days ago my sister-in-law fell. She had a pin put in her hip yesterday. I contacted my brother Tuesday evening, the day she fell, and told him I wanted to make them some meals, they love my lasagna, and to let me know when.

They were thrilled. He texted me early this evening, so off we went to the grocery store and we got what I needed for lasagna. I also grabbed two kinds of leaf lettuce, two sweet red peppers, 2 zucchini, green grapes, apples, grape tomatoes, two kinds of crackers and a brick of NYS extra sharp cheddar cheese for the apples, there are a couple other items that I do not recall what they are.

The lasagna is now done. Its aroma is going through the house at 10pm, 😂😂😂. I am keeping 4 slices for us, for two meals. The rest will go to them. He will text me tomorrow and let me know when to bring it.

I told him that when I get there, that he should come out to the car and get it all. My sister-in-law will not need company after she gets home from the hospital.

My sister-in-law and I can never just say, "Hi". We always talk and talk and talk, and she does not need that. He stayed in his car one time when they just stopped by to drop something off. Didn't work. My sister-in-law kept saying he was jn the car, and I kept saying, "Thanks. Youn better get going" and then she started with something else. My brother gave up and got out of his car, Their quick stop over was longer than planned. He should have known.

So, he really should come out to the car to grab it all.

I am hungry!

The one about one bow. I didn't want the entire video. I am really bad with YouTube videos.  I noticed he was using a violin bow with his viola. I think it was Pincha Zukerman? I probably missed the point of it because I really bad with YouTube, but he was using a violin bow.

Well, everything is packed and refrigerated and waiting for my brother to text me to bring the food over, I have done a bunch of rows in my knitting machune for a sweater I am making. This afternoon will be viola.

I think I will run through Ashokan Fairewell a couple of times, then I will see if I can spruce up Memory using my violin bow.

Memory is a little more difficult for me to play than Ashokan Farewell, but I do find it more manageable with the Pro Series Violin Bow. After I get it right I will post the audio of it with the viola bow and the violin bow.

I am liking the Obligato strings in my Fiddlerman Soloist 15.5 inch viola. I think it is a good pairing.

We have some furniture arriving Tuesday, and therefore some shifting around to do to make the path from the delivery truck to where it will go clear, so, I am not sure how much playing time I will have. One of the paths is through my playing area.

Ok, it has been two weeks or so. I have been in a funk or something. Not really a funk. I am trying to get ready for a couple of exciting visitors and it will only be a very short visit, so I want everything set when they arrive.

I have not been able to even think about serious playing. I take my viola or violin off the wall, but only run through what I already play, but not actually doing anything to improve any of it. It is really bugging me.

Anyway, I have not stopped playing, my little visitors that will be arriving for a couple days in about a month are kind of a priority right now.

🤞that I can get some time to play either my violin or viola today. I still have things to do before mid August. Time is flying by.
