This post is also probably my last on this forum, as well Gordon, I am on a couple of other ones, but I have been asked by a couple of bands to sing for them as well so my time here is most likely at an end, first and foremost I am a singer, fiddle was just a diversion really, I will stll post vids on my you tube channel, and maybe on other forums.
Onwards and upwards is always good.
I'll miss you. Fiddles are light: take yours on tour with you and relax with it when groupies aren't available.

Not had a go at this for about a year, so why not try again, into the breach and all that.

Just started learning the second bit which isn't too different from the first. I hear were I draw chords out to long li,e right at the start, and also were I should be using different type bowing Nd concentrating on the gaps rather than the notes, even though some notes are too drawn out, but Iam not a million miles away now, especially with the shifting and certain trills, which were hard to master. Especially the trills.
Jim if you read this I could do with Thomas giving me a few lessons

I hear a lot of improvement! The intonation, in particular, is much better.
Right now the main thing you need to pay attention to is rhythm. You're actually rushing most of the long notes, sometimes cutting them as short as half length, not drawing notes out too long. One thing I would suggest for getting a handle on the rhythm is practicing the whole thing in steady 16th notes, repeating them for the full value of each note. (For example, if a quarter note is written, play it as four 16th notes.)

Thanks Andrew and Emily for taking a look much appreciated.
Emily, it's all good fun and a learning curve, keeps the Brain active. I know I will never be much good, but enjoyment is the main thing, and of course a sense of accomplishment, knowing how difficult this instrument is and that we have all done the impossible by getting a tune out of it.
Andrew I really appreciate the advice, and it's really good of you to take the time to look at my vid and and give me some pointers, we are fortunate to have you on this forum, it's very difficult to know were I am going wrong when I play and play the recording back, so I will follow your advice to the letter. I have been working almost exclusively on intonation and am really pleased that you noticed it.

Thanks for taking a look Jim and for the advice. I have been watching a bloke called jeffrey Lee on you tube, he does an amazing version and I will probably alongside Andrews suggestions do what you say. Problem is every time I think I have the trills and such down, I find that they are incorrect.
To be honest just lately I have seriously been thinking of jacking it in, for the time I have put in and neglecting other instruments which I can actually play, I don't know if it's worth it, been at it close on 4 years now, when I listen to old recordings I don't sound much different, apart as Andrew says intonation, which is a double edged sword as I now can hear when anyone else is out of tune which I couldn't originally lol, buskers are painful at times;)

Andrew and Jim please ignore the bad intonation and mistakes, I am concentrating entirely on changing my bowing and the rhythm and want your opinions if it sounds any better, to me it does but as you know its not easy looking from your own perspective.

Thanks Greg and Katie for taking a look and the comments.
Jim thanks for looking and pointing out the speeding up and were it is I really do appreciate it, and I am going to work on the two places you mention which is very helpful indeed. I can feel myself start to speed up in parts but try to rein it in, I am a bit like Linford Christie in that respect, I think it's because of learning all the jigs and things without a teacher to point out the faults. I tend to spend so much time on certain things that I miss the basics.
Won't be commenting for a couple of days now as I am in Spain trying to catch a bit of sun before the big dark sets in.
