I was miffed that I found this website too late to join in with the Christmas project and was so impressed with what the members had done was determined to join in the next one.
I hope we don't end up with Naska doing part 1 then a bunch of the rest of us doing part 5 LOL!
So I'll be having a crack at part 4 too!
On the plus side, my G/F's daughter who hasn't played (thru lack of interest and orchestral slave driving) since school days a few years ago ( tho you wouldn't believe it when she picks up my violin and just rattles off the tunes to music like she's been playing all her life) said this piece looks like fun and seems to be rekindling her interest in the violin. So I'm trying to enlist her help too.
But like a girlie girl doesn't want to be on a video so I suggested we do a part each on one recording. I don't know how that would fit in the mix though.
I am amazed at how old people of my age are.....

Pierre, ok this is probably asking too much (or maybe not)... but can we get a solo track per violin part? I tried practicing on the click track and it ends before I finish so I'm sure I get it wrong haha. On the all-parts track I follow well until measure 63 or so then I get COMPLETELY LOST in all the other violins and I cannot hear if I'm following correctly.
I sang the beat, then I ta-ta-ta like you do in the videos stomping my foot when I have to play, then I played... but I still get lost, so a solo track of part 4 and 5 would help pretty please with sugar on top? ya maybe just maybe I'll try a bit of part 4, 5 is pretty easy (though 4 seems too advanced but something great tp practice).

Yes of course, but it's not the same as just a music track, FM stops to explain stuff. I practice in my room in front of my lutrin with my ipod for the music (ok I stole my son's pirate hat too for the right mood). Even if I know I have the correct fingering sometimes the notes sounds weird with the rest of the track 1 to 4 and it confuses me a lot, that's why I think just a part 5 track would help.

Let's see if I can get this to post on the first try.
This is me playing Cello2 along with the mp3 of all the parts. I played it through twice. I think the second time is better than the first. I tried to pay particular attention to dynamics, but you sure can't tell from this video. Anyway, I have plenty of time to work on it.
In case you're wondering, the picture was drawn by my 6 year old grandniece Abby. It shows Pierre dressed up as a pirate with a blue parrot on his shoulder, and two peg legs (I'm guessing.)
I've learned so much from my mistakes that I've decided to make some more.

I just love the sound of a cello! These practices are going pretty well
Pierre is May 1 a typo? because in chatbox it was june 1 lol. Just want to make sure the info is correct.

Fiddlerman transcribed it for me. Cello 2 seems to be the same as Viola 5, but an octave lower. The fingering is the same as for viola because they have the same strings: C G D A, just an octave apart. Cello 1 is the same as Viola 4, but an octave lower. I need to make better sounds. I hope I can learn Cello 1 in time so I don't stick out so much.
