See before the project instructions and sheet music below:

All interested violinists and violists are welcome to learn the parts arranged and available here on Fiddlerman.com. In the end of April members will record themselves individually using this He's a Pirate Click to create a memorable international youtube video of "He's a Pirate".
Download the appropriate part or all the parts and learn them as well as you can.

Record yourself using the Click-track in ear not audible on the recording and SPREND the file to [email protected] (Do not email any files to me, they will be too big)
Deadline for turning in the audio or video files is May 1st. Please spread the word to everyone you know that plays the violin. Would be sad if we had too few.

If you don't wish to be seen just record audio. I will mix the parts first then add the video. There is a possibility that not every video will be seen but all audio from the video files will be. Sending me a video gives me all rights to use the video as I see fit for the youtube project.

Demo videos soon to come for help on how to perform…

Making a group project forum is a great idea! thumbs-up

You should denote the easiest part(s) for the rank beginners, unless there aren't any that are noticeably easier than others.

I hope by the time the next project rolls around I'll be able to participate.

Unfortunately I noticed that the other parts are not that much easier. I don't know what I was thinking about. Was mostly completing the chords. dazed

Q: in the 6 line (on the sheet music for violin #1) in the 6th & 7th measures, the high notes are played in your video by the 4th position of the A string, since I have a real problem reaching those notes with my little finger (broke it years ago and it doesn't work real well) can I move to the 1st position on the E string without issue?

In violin 5 at the beginning do I have to use the 4th finger on the "G" string or can I play open D even tho you used your 4th and vibrato in you video. I've always had a hard time using the 4th finger and I did try vibrato.

I would think since it's the same note, using the open string would be fine. The only difference is that you can't add Vibrato to an open string note. That's the reason I think he did the 4th finger in the videodunno.

Dennis, I don't know why I did that but you can easily play it in 1st position.

Dragon Lady, use the open string for sure. No problem. When everyone is playing together vibrato is not important.

I see you put up the videos on playing all the parts.  Where I am right now I can not open these files.  I was hoping you could email me violin 3 and 4 then hopefully I can get them through my email.  I can't open up any videos here but at least I have my electric violin with me so I can keep busy.

I saw this in my YT subscription. It looks super awesome. I'm going to try it, but I'm not sure if I'll be able to play it all...

Doesn't have to be perfect. I accept all videos. Just needs to be fairly close in time.

Is there still time to learn and submit videos?

I would really like to join in.

(I only just recently got a violin)

Does it have to be a video? I don't have a webcam, but I have a pretty nifty microphone and some audio editing software.dancinbunny

is it easier to think of the triplets as spiccato, or is it just the speed you are using for the video that makes them sound like?

(can you guess, I learned that technique in today lesson? which was not too difficult  as I have suffered with spontanius spiccato for a few weeks while practicing, lol)

I am amazed at how old people of my age are.....

Not easier to think of them as spiccato.

Depending on the speed that you work on and the speed that we will choose later the triplets can become spiccato. I like it that way but if you want to take it to that level just use shorter bows and allow the bow to jump lightly. Think down 2, 3, up, 2, 3, down........ without accents. However, if it helps to make slight accents, do it.
