Hi All,

My name is Afek and I am from Israel (which i now in 2nd quarantine 😒), I will be a 13 years old this month (in two weeks) and my dream is to become a professional violinist. I love the violin and started playing the violin when I was 6 years old (I told my mom "the bow makes me feel cool, can I play the violin ?")

I am happy to join this forum and hope to learn from all of the violinist here in this forum.

I already posted my first post and video so feel free to give me your feedbacks:      my-mozart-recital-during-quarantine

(BTW: I am not a native English speaker so my parents help me translate my posts)

@AfekSilonShacham

Welcome to the forum! I loved your video, it was excellent!

Your English is terrific! Do not apologize for it!

You should check out our Group Project thread. There is one in the works for the holiday season. We have not started it yet, at all. I believe we are planning to play “Let It Snow” as a virtual group. Check it out in the forum topics, Group Projects.

I am very pleased you introduced yourself and pointed out the wonderful video you shared. I hope to see more of you in the site.

Great playing, hope you achieve your dream, I am sure you will, you are young enough, and have time on your side, and a love of the  instrument.

Welcome Afek!

I had a chance to show your wonderful video to some of my Grandchildren and they LOVED it!  They are all younger than you are and love music!

Thirteen is a magical age - are you preparing for bar mitzvah?

I think you'll find a lot of support for your violin playing here from members - so glad you joined us!

Thanks for the feedback Emily :)

Indeed I am supposed to celebrate my Bar Mitzva these days, but due to the quarantine in Israel, I had to postpone my Bar Mitzva for April :(

So hopefully by that time I will be able to celebrate it with no Covid-19 around us

Welcome to the forum @AfekSilonShacham.

You get a video badge for sharing a video of yourself playing.

As for your request for critique, I like to focus on fewer issues at one time so I'll keep mine short. When you perform, it's extremely difficult to make it sound like a performance rather than a struggle, or exercise. A great deal of focus should go towards hearing what you are playing and playing what you would like to hear.
Most peoples nerves get in the way of that.

In doing so, instantaneously your performance becomes more musical.

Listen to your performance with a pencil and sheet music in hand. When you notice that you are too high, pencil in a down arrow, and when too low, an up arrow. This way you learn not to practice the mistakes. When you practice mistakes, you become great at making mistakes. 😁

Thanks for the introduction and for sharing your video.

but the one who needs the least."
