Sounds awesome to live in Brazil. Maybe I should travel there to stay in winter, it would be great to get away from all the cold snow. Never snows there, does it?
Lucky people. Its fun with snow to start with, but when it stays till May its starting to get annoying.

Its awesome! you really should, there are great places to visit. Never snows in here. If you come I can give you some tips on places to visit.
I have seen snow once in my life when I traveled to Argentina, I really liked it but I'd probably end up getting sick of it after several months.

Sounds great. Now I know who I should contact if I get really sick and tired of winter.
Sounds kind of sad, not having snow at all in winter. I don't think it will be the same without it.

It's a little sad when I remember it haha
Most the time we don't even think about it, the winter here is dry and cold; "our cold" like 10 degrees during the day, but that depends on the region, Brazil is big! so the southern regions are colder. Brazil has basically two seasons in the year. summer and winter, where winter, as I said, is cold and dry and the summer is hot and rainy.

Hey mad_wed, it is possible to get too hot or too humid/dry for the violin?
if so, what can I do?
Definitely. Humidity interval 40-60 is normal. Optimal 50. If humidity is too high (>60) You can use Silica gel. But i think it's quite rare that humidity is so high....=)
If it's too dry - use a humidifier.
As for the temperature, i think everything that is comfortable for a human is comfortable for violin, just don't leave it on the sun and it will be OK.
If it's cold outside (like -5C or less), when You get back in a warm plase - leave the violin in case for an hour (well, if You have that hour, of course =)), to avoid quick change of temperature.
I'm not an expert, and more familiar to low temperature and humidity influence =)

I haven't heard of a violin that have been ruined of too much heat. (unless is direct sunlight.) Unless you gonna take it to the sun, its gonna be ok, I guess. When its hot weather, its usually hot both outside and inside houses. Its not the same heat difference it will be if its very cold outside and warm inside.
That's my idea, if its really that way is a other story. I don't know.
Why did I sleep in forestry class. That knowledge have been useful now.

Nice presentation, it made me giggle a couple of times
Since I "owe" you a welcome, here's my welcome:
Welcome!
And in case you haven't heard this statement, you're not too old to learn playing the violin. I've seen people around 40 starting to play the violin and doing great, simply depends on the ambition within a person
