Thanks!
I watched Fallout when it first came out this Spring - looking forward to the 2nd season!
Knew 'Fallout' originated from a game, but I'm not familiar with it. Thought the music was mostly 40's-50's... kept expecting to hear Doris Day start singing "Que Sera, Sera (Whatever Will Be, Will Be)", but there was definitely a huge variety of music styles!
I've really enjoyed films like "The Cotton Club", "Swing Kids", and "Chicago"! Films about Glen Miller & also films with his band, like "Sun Valley Serenade" were great. Saw "The Jazz Singer" many years ago, too.
I'd love some other film recommendations related to early Jazz - doesn't matter if they are historically accurate, if they are a good story that can deliver the feel of 1920's-30's music (I accept the flaws of Hollywood).
I haven't watched "La La Land", yet...
Here's a trailer for "Swing Kids" (1993) - great film about the Swingjugend movement opposing Nazism in 1939 Germany. Wonderful music & dancing!
There's also a Korean film from 2018, also called "Swing Kids" - about POW's that learn great tap dance rhythms as a distraction, but it's also a protest for freedom. (TRAILER)

"The Ragtime Nightmare play forgotten jazz, misplaced blues and neglected rags."
I LOVE their music (there's a fiddler in the mix) - based in Berlin, members are from different Countries, but fit llike a glove.
LOVE this stop-motion video - "Trav'lin All Alone". A tune originally recorded in 1937, by Billy Holiday!
"Who Walks In When I Walk Out?"

Almost forgot I wanted to share a couple new favorites (not hard).
"Egyptian Fantasy" - composed by Sidney Bechet (jazz sax soloist) in 1941.
Played by Èlia Bastida & Christoph Mallinger - sounds fabulous on the fiddle!
Here's the basic dots (Egyptian Fantasy), from Yvan Jacques!
...improvisation will add the special touch!
Anyone who has seen Star Wars will remember the alien jazz band in the cantina scene... well, VERY SIMPLE notation popped up on The Session not too long ago. I waited to share it because I wasn't sure it would be left up on the site - so far, so good (but it's NOT a reel)! It was originally posted as "An Tábhairne Réaltrach", but John Williams named it "Mad About Me" (fixed). So, follow the link to notation & audio playback!
Here's a play-along that's closer to the film version - from Michelle Haughian Violin! ...slow it down to learn it.
