No one video jumped out and grabbed me this week...  but what motivated me to practice this week is the relaxing, calming affect of doing something I like doing.  We all have weeks at work that reminds us that work is a four letter word... sometimes it's good... and you can fill in the blanks for other terms it could be.

Been trying to change up how I practice a little, and it keeps me motivated... so it works for me.   I switch every few days between the electric and the acoustic.   The FM Concert violin bridge is shaped a little flatter than the one on the electric.  I find that I can get lost in the sounds of the electric with an effects pedal, and by taking my time it's easier to hit notes on new songs or ones I've been trying to learn...  so then when I pick up the acoustic one, they seem easier to play.

Might not make sense to anyone else, but it keeps me motivated and making forward progress.   That, and it's November...   a great month to fly kites.  Kites and Violins are the best :)

SO I guess I will play a video... and I'm in it :)     (It's my other passion)

edit:

(ok... so it's November in two days....)

I know it's not Friday yet.. but I am wishing it is, so that counts, right? lol

I found this video online of my teacher playing the Glasgow Reel from a few years back. The video has a bit of background noise, but I want to grow up and play like that someday:

I enjoyed it.

If it motivates you, it might motivate someone else, no matter what day it is.   I know I've posted a video or two that not everyone would agree with the style , technique, or sound of...  yet if it motivates a single violin player, it was worth it.

So play what you want on your violin... and post whatever videos in this topic that motivate you.  We all have different tastes... but if it makes you want to play...  it is good.

I try not to replay videos often...     yet the reason most of us play the violin is that it brings us a source of enjoyment.   So I'm going to replay a song that I love to play, yet this version stresses the importance of having fun as well...  But for those who have never played this song, give it a try...

I'll throw this in for good measure...

We all love different styles and types of play...  if it motivates you, then all is good.

It's Friday...   Normally I would not suggest contributing to the delinquency of a minor... But if it's A Minor... then it's ok  :)

Nice song !

C, E flat and G walk into a bar

and the bartender says: “Sorry we don’t serve minors”, so E-flat leaves, and C and G have an open fifth between them. After a few drinks, the fifth is diminished and G is out flat. F comes in and tries to augment the situation, but is not sharp enough.

D comes in and heads for the bathroom saying, “Excuse me. I’ll just be a second.” Then A comes in, but the bartender is not convinced that this relative of C is not a minor. Then the bartender notices B-flat hiding at the end of the bar and says, “Get out! You’re the seventh minor I’ve found in this bar tonight.”

E-Flat comes back the next night in a three-piece suit with nicely shined shoes. The bartender says, “you’re looking sharp tonight. Come on in, this could be a major development.” Sure enough, E-flat soon takes off his suit and everything else, and is au natural.

Eventually C sobers up and realizes in horror that he’s under a rest. C is brought to trial, found guilty of contributing to the diminution of a minor, and is sentenced to 10 years of D.S. without Coda at an upscale correctional facility.

I want to grow up to play like this someday.

I've seen her perform both of these live, and they were amazing.

Lol, I don't think I'll ever grow up, either... I kind of refuse ;) Doesn't matter how old I am, forever growing and learning (hopefully).

Yup... growing old is mandatory for those who get the opportunity.

Growing up...   well that is purely optional.

Yet as we age, our toys get more fun :)

Going to go look at a blue/black marbled version of this violin....  not that I need a new toy :)

So many great songs!!! It'll probably take me a 100 years to even sound half as good.begPraying to the violin gods to give me some talent, lol

@Taper123 interesting violin shape! New toys are always nice!

It's easy to play any musical instrument: all you have to do is touch the right key at the right time and the instrument will play itself. Johann S.Bach
