Thanks for jamming with me, FM. The duet was a lot of fun, and good practice, too, for those of us whose long-term goal is to play in the Community Orchestra. It aids concentration, I think. I had to listen to your part without losing my place. I hope you'll make more duets for beginners.
I've learned so much from my mistakes that I've decided to make some more.

Fiddlerman, I think you should do more jamming. On the other hand, if you had duet sheet music we could all make duets with ourselves. That was so much fun! Mad_Web, thanks for the encouragement. I want to see you do Twinkle Twinkle! I'll be in the front row cheering.

Thanks to Gail's inspiration and Fiddlerman's video......I too can now play TTLS on the violin..it needs refining. A lot...
The only thing that is bothering me is that I want to play from the music and I haven't caught on to it all as of yet.... All four notes of the" up above the world so high" are all played on the A string...? Right.. Mine sounds a bit high...
Anyway....I felt over the moon tonight... PROGRESS...
I think I deserve that pink violin after all...

Hey Coolpinkone:
If I am not mistaken, those are all played on the D string if you use your pinky.
I play that section Open A twice. 3rd Finger on the D twice, 2nd Finger on the D twice, 1st finger on the D once.
I hope that makes sense.

Yes..thank you it makes sense. I will try it this morning. I was thinking from the video that we were switching over to A , but then it did not make sense for me after.
I am a little confused why we don't "have " to lift all of our fingers....maybe I should post this on topic in another thread?
But thank you so much..
Apologies for thread jacking Gail's thread.

I'm going to devote my time to practicing scales for a few weeks, but that's not very interesting. It's like housework. You have to do it.
In the meantime, there's a song I like that I want to learn to play, so I went online to find sheet music. It took hours but I finally found the melody in the key of C Major. That's fine, but I'm also learning to play cello and I wanted a piano score so I could play two cello parts and two violin parts and dub them all together. I finally found a piano score in the key of F Major. I don't like F Major. I found a transposing graph to help me change the piano score to C Major. Then I found free software online that you can use to transcribe music. Now I'm busy making my own sheet music. So that's my progress so far.
If I had a musical education this would all be so much simpler.
