I've never played the violin before, but my sister desperately wants to learn how to play it. Before she gets a violin, I want to be able to help her and guide her along, even though I don't play it myself. I play a variety of instruments like the piano, and the ukulele, the guitar too. But I've never been in possession of a violin. So what would be a few good basic starting exercises that I could learn yo help her along?

find her a violin teacher or at least someone to give her feedback..like does she have proper posture.. is she holding the violin right... and other issues..  it's easy to learn bad habits and difficult to unlearn them.. fiddlermans videos are very helpful, be sure let your sister see it...

I play guitar.  From there, I picked up a Mandolin.  Then, I got to play around with the violin.  The good thing about knowing some Mandolin is that the violin is strung up the say way!  No frets, but since I know chords, I can figure stuff out on violin more quickly.  I am a beginner, but it helped me visualize the notes to start off with!

For some reason I have never even tried playing a Mandolin.  cry
