When practicing scales for jazz, do not play even eighth notes. "Swing" the eighth notes by playing the 1st eighth as 2 tied triplets and the next as the following triplet in a beat.
The importance of playing scales on an instrument can be compared to lifting weights for a human body. Become so familiar with the scales that you do not need to think. Practice them in both directions and different tempos.

You may download, copy and print any of the free violin sheet music on this site. The files are in PDF format which means that you need a program such as Adobe Reader or Preview (Mac) to view and print. To download, right click on the file (control click for Mac) and choose Save Linked File to ” ” and choose your favorite location.

Super awesome! Something that would also be cool would be if there were a tutorial for different bowing on the scales, like the spiccato video.

Pikachu, if you help me understand exactly what you would like for me to demonstrate, I'll be more than happy to do it.

Here is the demo for Oliver.

it's really nice of you to introduce jazz..

as a beginner.. classical music is wonderful but sometimes you just want something different.. like a craving...

i was searching the web for jazz violin but there are very few resources and tutorials available... i hope it becomes a long list of tutorials ahead on jazz... it would be nice if there's a song with music sheet  and a play through video.. i know it says improv but for a beginner playing a familiar song is the exercise i would appreciate.. well.. that's just me dreaming .. lol.. the videos on jazz improv are very helpful.. thank you for providing them..
