Have just heard Lonesome Moonlight Waltz and loved it
Would ti be a practical tune for a learner to take on?
Would anybody be able to tell me the key? The music has a flat symbol on the c line of the staff
You can hear the tune here
Thanks
Seen it all. Done it all. Can't remember most of ..... What was I saying????

It's in D minor.
It's really a 2nd-position tune, although it is playable in 1st postion. In 1st position, there would be a lot of string crossing in the middle of phrases.
Still do-able

May give it a try soon. My next piece will be in C major rather than my 'comfortable' G major.
When I post it I'll include the lyrics. They will blow you away

I think you meant to say that it has just one flat---on B. One flat is the key signature of F major. The key may not be the same as the key signature and is open to interpretation. That key signature is consistent with a key of F major or a key of D minor. The key is determined by where (on what pitch) the piece spends most of its time, but especially on where it finally comes to rest. You can determine that by matching the notes of the piece with your fiddle or with your tuner. This piece spends a lot of time on D, but repeatedly comes to rest on F, so I guess I would have to say it is in the key of F major.
It seems that you have the sheet music. Are there any changes of key signature in the piece? Where can people get the sheet music?

How do you say that it is in D minor and not F? Just because it spends a lot of time on D? But it sounds like it comes to rest on F. Is it not a matter of interpretation? You are one of our main experts here, but is your answer at odds with http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/K.....28music%29 ? Maybe that article is nonsense or I am reading it wrong?
