Rotex, I think what you are doing is great. Not only for yourself but anyone else who wants to do the same thing. You are going to inspire people to learn from scratch online. Also, very ambitious of you to start working on Presto from Vivaldi's "Summer". I actually believe that you will be able to play it someday.

Keep it up!!!

Very good job, Rotex!  From week one to week two, you have showed greater confidence and better use of the bow. Smile

I totally agree!! Keep posting.

Fiddlerman, is there any ways to make more threads than just one at every topic to be displayed on the front page?

I'll look into that. I know that I can increase the number of Topics from 5 to something else.

When you go to FORUM you can see on the top of the page, "Topics with unread posts", if you click on the icon to the very right of it you will have all your unread topics with the number of posts that are unread.

Lady Gaga's Bad Romance? A little slow but intonation is pretty good. Loosen your wrist Roq :D I wish my attic room was high enough to stand in thoWink What's next week's piece, I wonder.

Way to go Rotex,

Lots of great things. You are creative, coming up with your own ideas of what to play. I like your straight and relaxed wrists on both hands. The position of your violin looks very good.

  • Keep your left fingers closer to the strings.
  • Use more elbow when bowing and not so much shoulder.
  • Be even more precise and exact with your intonation. It will pay off later.

I am really looking forward to next weeks contribution. Thanks for posting.

Yep, I wish that your attic is high enough too haha, uhmm i'm thinking of Bragi's Poem from Ragnarok Online but I think that song writtenn by Rossini plus all of the songs that I played this month to check if I already mastered them.

Don't worry Roq. Do it when you feel like it even if you get your camera back. We'll be patient here :-) Look forward to hearing the progress.

Thanks Roq,

Great idea to play this piece, and once again, an ambitious choice on your part :-)

I don't know if you know what hooking the bow means but it is like playing a slur without necessarily connecting the sound. It would make the piece easier for you to play since you won't have to use so much more bow on the 16ths to equal the dotted eighths. Let me know if you want me to make specific bowing suggestions.

Keep focussing on intonation as well.

Thanks again for sharing.Smile

It's my pleasure!, yeah I really have a bad intonation and it's kinda hard to press the string when I'm using my pinkie and my pinkie is kinda short.

No Roq. Not really bad. Everyone plays out of tune. You're intonation is getting better and you are just a beginner. Just keep on thinking about it and it WILL get better, I promise. You will find solutions for your pinky too. For example bringing your left elbow under a little more will put you closer.

Secondly, if you like, record the piano part as a music minus one recording, and I'll play it with you as a tutorial for others. Then you can sell the minus one track through youtube for $1 like they do on iTunes to raise money for a violin or whatever you desire :-)
