Happy 4th of July everyone. For those of you interested in surprising your friends, neighbors or just learning the American Anthem, I have written out:
Thank you! I was going to ask if you could provide sheet music for Our National Anthem. Very cool! I have not had many days off since the Good Friday tornado hit St. Louis. We have had storms every weekend. I just got back from working a storm in Kenosha, Wisconsin. Actually it was a little town called Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin. I could not resist screaming, "Hello, Wisconsin" from "That 70's Show" every chance I got! Just got in the door from a broken pole job that lasted all night. One of these days I am going to pick up that violin and play. Right now I have to hit the hay! Thanks for the sheet music!

I printed The Star Spangled Banner last night. I finally got to play my violin! I played for two hours! What a blast. Well for me anyway, the dogs ran and hid, cowards! I did a long slow warm up like I read on this forum. Concentrating on clean notes, threw in some string changes as well on open strings just to get the motion right, trying to keep the bow where it belongs. Then songs I know, Twinkle Twinkle, Mary Had a Little Lamb, Perpetual Motion, Jingle Bells, etc. Again I played concentrating on clean, even notes. Then I worked on Amazing Grace. I really enjoy this tune. When I can get the three note, two string slur down to my liking, I will start on The Star Spangled Banner. I have my grass cut, and I have some spare time...I can play!!!

Shur nuff!
The neat combination of finger, string and bow direction information along with slurs and dotted notes make this a valuable piece for basic beginner challenges.
It's "all there". (IMHO)
( You had just a few occasions for fourth finger with this piece but I know you will make up for it
I wonder, later on, if such a collection would not be worth publishing, either privately or otherwise ?
PS After sitting down with these pieces I realized that I might have looked for a (suggested) tempo (MM)

Eureka!
I just discovered your METRONOME !
Now you have no reason to not incorporate tempo in the future.
(IMHO metronomes are one of the best training tools. Not only for tempo, but to provide distraction which a student may well encounter in the real world. Things like french horns in the church praise band.)
4th finger strategy is nice lesson. Can't tolerate open strings most of the time.
Did you play O GOD BEYOND…………….. as a solo?

Can I make a request please?
I'd like to learn 'Somewhere over the rainbow'
Sounds a pretty simple tune, hopefully I can handle it.
Thanks
Robyn
I second that, it just came up on my Ipod on my way home after a crappy day in the heat. Love that song, always makes me feel better.
