I really want to learn how to use my loop pedal....which has been sitting on the floor in pretty much the same place since I bought it. It's not so much the pedal that frightens me, it's figuring out what to play. I was actually thinking of trying your four part Flight of the Bumble Bee, but I don't know if I can do it. I tried it the other day. It would be more like flight of the....um....something that flies pretty slowly. I don't. Flight of the Kite? LOL.

Do you have a video of you playing that?

Great comment Jauniba! I have a Boss loop pedal and didn't even think about using that for violin at my beginner stages.

Fiddlerman, Hello Dolly for real? joking...I like all types of music but what about a simplified version of Hotel California? (just reminding you like you knew I would;-)

Looping violin....these videos on youtube are the whole reason why i bought the loop pedal and, for that matter, the electric violin... there are so many videos on youtube I don't even know where to begin BUT this one's pretty easy AND she puts the sheet music on her website. So perhaps someone will draw some inspiration from it.

OK, along with my new addition yesterday for:

I made a sample video of the piece. Fiddlerman plays "Solveig's Song"

There is an explanation under all the music but those are bow direction indications. The symbol that resembles an upside down U is a downbow. The one that looks like a V is an upbow.

For those of you who do not have scales to practice I jotted the most common two octave scales on Finale and now have a downloadable PDF available.

Do you have a video of you playing that?

As the comedian Ron White once said, "Flying at the speed of Smell"

I think you should try the music that the woman on the video is playing. I think it may be a little easier than "Flight of the Bumblebee".  It is a pretty tune, and it would get you to use your loop pedal. Just thinking out loud.

Do the Christmas project. Play violin 4. It almost works as a loop the whole way. There are a few bars that don't work but you can change the melody to fit.

Good luck flying the kite and playing with your loops.blink

Thanks for adding more Christmas songs for beginners FM. My grandmother's 109th birthday is this Nov. 19th and I want to play a few Christmas songs for her on the violin. My grandfather that I never got to meet played violin for a living in a jazz band in the 20s, 30s and 40s.

Cool MGN, I'll keep them coming. Unbelievable that she is that old. Can you have some pictures taken when you play for her? :-)

For sure I will take pictures and video FM. I'm hoping that our Christmas project will be done by then too to show her. She's a tough lady and I think I will be there for her 110th birthday too.
