I got a book "Essential Elements 2000 for violin" and am reading it word for word, including all the forwards and side margins, etc.  I am following this book and completing every exercise, even re-learning to hold the violin they way they say.

 

I hope his is a good book?  I want to make sure my foundation is strong, I know from 30 years with the guitar how a weak foundation can bring about frustration and heartache down the line.

I totally agree so long as the info you are getting is good not too boring. 'Boring' is the learner violinist's greatest enemy.

I did a very similar thing recently just to sort out some bad habits that I had picked up. violin-student

Seen it all. Done it all. Can't remember most of dunno ..... What was I saying???? facepalm
