In much the same way that I took up Viola to support our older son in his Viola lessons at school, my wife is planning to get a Violin to do the same for our younger son.
Expect to find her in here from time to time to get help with her new hobby. I'll be talking to Pierre about getting her set up with a student violin to get her started when he gets back from Key West.

Who will switch to cello so you can have a quartet?

My wife spent some time trying to learn the cello but ran out of motivation. Even at that the cello had a wonderful sound, much nicer than my two violins. I was too far gone to switch to another clef. I still melt however to hear Yo Yo Ma play "Songs My Mother Taught Me".
PS To my surprise, the cello was early EBay for about $100 and sounds great but it getting a crack in the back plate.

Can't really afford to add a cello, alas. But it's my wife's favorite, so she gets dibs.
You might be surprised to find a cello in your life if you put the word out that you're interested in obtaining one. People have the strangest things stored in the back of closets
