Hello everyone, I just joined this evening and I have no idea how to do anything!  Am I showing my age?  I think it's a miracle that I figured out how to post this.  I have no idea how to comment on a forum, or find out how to join a group performance.  So here goes.

I saw that a group play started last month, how does that work? I noticed that there is no viola music yet, though it says there will be soon. I can't find any other Viola music so I guess I'll learn fiddle.

How long do you have to learn the song before it is gathered and performed.  How is it gathered and performed and how do I do that? I admit, it kind of freaks me out to think I would record my playing and post it somewhere (I'm kind of a closet player), but the end result looks so fun.  Is there someplace on the web site that discusses all these newbie questions?

Welcome @oceanside-girl !

I was just having a quick look on the forum before we head-off for a week - check out a finished project - I know there will be about 200 posts to read through - but almost everything is discussed there - like - how you work with the click-track, ideas on recording, and how to send the finished video (and what format etc etc) to Pierre - check out this thread from the very beginning to the end - LOL https://fiddlerman.com/forum/c.....christmas/

I think most of your questions will be answered there....

And, good luck with your fiddling !!!

I seriously recommend not copying my mistakes. D'oh - guntohead.JPG

Please make your own, different mistakes, and help us all learn :-)

If you are a viola player, you might want to check out the sister site to this one: http://www.violaman.com

I think you'll find  viola sheet music there written in alto clef, including the music for some past projects.  This forum, I believe, is the primary discussion forum for both sites.

Thank you for that information Uzi.

I'll definitely go check it out.  I do want to get out the fiddle too, so both sites will be great!

So I must start off by apologizing for the project.
It's super delayed and I haven't really done anything with it. I still want to do it.
As far as viola music is concerned, violists post here as well. I wish that the violaman.com page was more popular but it just isn't. We'll try to keep posting there and hope for a boost in popularity but I am not holding my breathe.
Welcome to the forum. Look forward to reading future posts.

No apology needed!  I really would like to start playing fiddle and so this gives me that opportunity.  I'm adult learner with the Viola, played for a couple of years when my kids were young and because of living in a small Oregon Coastal town (Florence) there weren't many opportunities.  I picked it up again about 3 years ago and love it.  I play with Oregon Coast Chamber Orchestra, but we only have about 2-3 concerts a year and that leaves me with a lot of time on my hands with no one to play with.  I really want to learn how to just sit down with people and play and feel confident, jam sessions?  I think this will help me with that and I'm very, very excited to do this with all of you. I just hope I can learn how to do it all...recording, uploading, all that stuff.  Thank you for keeping this website, I'm going to pass it on to a young lady that I know that wants to learn violin and others as well!
