@Katie L I've always liked My Grandfather's Clock – great playing, great control.  I’m not hearing anything out of tune smile

@stringy  Great playing on John White’s Mother—never heard this before.

John White’s Mother practice--I never sound that good on something I’ve just put on my stand & run through.smile

Here’s mine.  My Mother Told Me  is a song used in the History Channel’s TV series Vikings.

My Mother Told Me

**EDIT 13 MAR: So, I upgrade my software, & got some reverb now--added it--maybe too much lol.

My Mother Told Me version2

Sounds are very different when comparing on my PC, Ipad, & two different phones.  Best audio is on my PC, but I guess that's to be expected. Here's updated with some reverb:

@SharonC you always post fun duets but this one is my favorite yet.  Youre spot on with all 3 parts and the percussion is an added surprise!  steppin it up evrytime there!!

@Mark another great choice of song and playing and as always you post enjoyable videos.  thanks for jumping in on these!!

@SharonC -

WOO HOO! FABULOUS!

I love this tune, but certainly doesn't lend itself to a single voice.
You brought it all out, in FULL GLORY!
Don't be afraid to beef up your percussion there - loved the drum!
Did you change your recording set up?

Yep, you set the bar for this pretty high!

Girl, you have to get something more for on, and above, your fireplace!  🤣

@Mark -

WONDERFUL!

💖 your version of "Will The Circle Be Unbroken"!
💖 you played it by ear!

Your playing sounds beautiful!

Great gospel tune, I've seen a tutorial for 3 different fiddle versions by Chris Haig.
You can't compare your video to SharonC's - it's like comparing apples to oranges!

Thank you!  YOU make this a great Party!

@Mark Great tune! Excellent playing--I think of Johnny Cash & June Carter singing this.

Shouldn't be comparing our sharing--mine is fun; yours is beautiful.  smile

@stringy  @Mark  @ABitRusty  @ELCBK   Thanks!

I found a duet for this, & just added a 3rd part.  My “drum” is just a plastic tub I use outside to pick up pinecones.  I thought, “Hey, I need some kind of drum” & proceeded to walk around banging on things I thought I could use. 🤣 I lifted the bottom with my foot (to let the noise out) while I hit it.

Emily, I’ve been playing with my mics & their settings.  The condenser mic in this is just out of frame on up to my right—I can reach & grab it with my right hand.

I do have kind of a Spartan-looking fireplace.  I have put different things there before, but always end up deciding I don’t like it, and then I just end up leaving it blank.

@SharonC - You just keep pushing the envelope! Great playing and video. Soon we'll expect to see you playing an entire string and percussion ensemble!

@Mark - I can only hope that one day I can come close to the tone you get! And the vibrato seems perfect for that piece.

@SharonC -

🤣 LOVE your ingenuity!

Nothing wrong with Minimalist Style of decorating! (lol)

...but but your lonely vase draws the eye away from you.  Maybe bring your camera in a little closer and slightly lower, to center yourself?

Traditionally, the old-fashioned decorator view for accessorizing a fireplace, was to use a big mirror in the middle - for reflecting the rest of the room and then candles or lamps on both ends of the mantel for lighting.  Both are obviously bad for a backdrop to record!  My only tip is: the more different things, varying size, color and texture, without using drastic contrast that you can place on your mantel - will make no 'one' object seem important or stand out, but YOU.

...or you could just remove the vase when you record. (lol)

Sounds like you found a GREAT spot for your mic!

You let it slip, a while back, that you used to play drums - would love to hear more!

Just NO cymbals, please! 🤣

Thank you,

these party's have helped me to not be so lazy about recording myself, it's a great tool to help your playing by listening and watching for issues as you play.

Thanks,

Mark

Amazing Sharon, my favourite one of yours. Really dramatic and loved the drums and the solo part at the end. Really like your bowing too. And thought yours was excellent too mark can’t believe you played by ear. I don’t know how you can do that. Sounded like it was all on one string to me if you know what I mean. So impressed with both.

@ELCBK  Yeah, I'll probably just remove the vase smile

Many (many) years ago, I played drums.  Really don’t plan on doing much more than plastic-tub-hit-stick-on-the-beat things now.
