Wow Sharon C that was amazing! Sounded really good and professional ! I liked how chilled out you were and you played it really calmly you made the shifting look so easy !
Thanks for posting and the story - that’s what I’m talking about the whole ‘if I played the violin I’d play this’’ and now you can totally play it! I’d be so chuffed!!
Katie
@ABitRusty @ELCBKK @Katie L Thanks, all. I should have played it a little slower - but project done, on to the next!
@ELCBKK I always thought of Ashokan as the outdoor retreat up the road, so I never thought about it's Japanese-sounding name. I spent 3 years in Japan while in USAF. My cat's name, Suki, is Japanese for "beloved".
@Katie L - I had to look up "chuffed" - Not a word we are familiar with on this side of the pond, LOL
Characterize people by their actions and you will never be fooled by their words.

Ahh, that was cool @SharonC - nice harmonisation and shifting ! Well done !
It's giving me ideas (if I can find the time.... as ever) to do my own take on another great Jay and Molly tune - Lovers' Waltz. Haven't played it in quite some time, but it is a tune that captivated me when I first heard it.
Ohhh, I remember now, when I last played it, yes, it was back early last year for the ASVF facebook group and posted to YouTube.
Hmm - not fair really to share that here since it's already out there, and is a "relatively" recent take - it won't have changed or improved since then, so I'd rather find another piece - I'll see what I can come up with !
I seriously recommend not copying my mistakes. D'oh -

My Daughter's Cat's name is Unagi - he's all brown like a Havana. You can tell she likes sushi! 😊

Katie, this is a great idea for a party! I love it!
I listened to your piece and first thought I know it, but nope, I don’t. It just sounded first a little bit similar than other one I have sometimes heard.
ABitRusty, that was cool! I like these kind of tunes, don’t know why, maybe because they are so different than I myself usually play.
SharonC, I love your duets with yourself, they are always so amazing!
I know exactly what I want to play in this party, the story behind it is just that ”if I played the cello, I would play this”. The piece that always makes me cry because everything is in it. My teacher has promised me we will play it one day, but I know I’m not ready to it yet. That doesn’t stop me from trying it a little, but I promised to be very patient and not rush with that. I already have one quite good video, but give me a couple days to think do I want to post that or try to make a better one.
@BillyG @Mark @Ilona Thanks, all
@BillyG I've played Lover's Waltz with the ensemble group I was with--a really nice tune.
@ELCBK I'm not crazy about sushi--I don't like much fish, & what I do eat needs to be cook!

@Ilona no harm in trying!

This is a wonderful Party!
Hope you'll bear with me a little longer.
I really do have a piece that's special to me, but it needs vibrato and I'm just starting to get it - can only do so much of it each day.
Anyone else have a special tune for this Party?
I've been noticing that after I record a piece - I don't really play it again, which is a shame because all that I've recorded so far really needs more work. I'm not talking about being perfect, just something I can live with.
...the Church Lady knows! 🤣

Ok, here it comes! Today is a perfect day to join this party. There are two different wow aspects, the piece itself and my new cello!
So I got my new cello two days ago. It feels very different from my old cello, but I trust we will become very good friends. 🥰 Because this cello is brand new, I now have to teach it all the great pieces. 🤣🤣 So I started straight from the top. 🤪
I think this piece doesn’t need any introduction. In my opinion it’s the greatest of them all, and my biggest dream is to play this proudly one day.
Omg those chords are hard to get in tune… It doesn’t help that this new cello is slightly different size than my old cello, so I have to figure out new finger places. And yes, I don’t play that last phrase to the end because I can’t yet, it goes too high. But listen to the sound of this cello, it’s amazing! ❤️

@ELCBK No, it’s not full size, it’s 7/8. My old cello was a bit weird size, it was between 3/4 and 7/8, so this actually is bigger.
And the piece I’m trying to play, well, it’s of course this. 🤪

Wow, you have quite a ways to go to play the whole Concerto - it's very long!
Very intense piece. Guess you'll have to practice tossing your head and hair around a bit - don't forget to close your eyes, too. 😄 I don't know how you are supposed to read the sheet music while showing all that emotional body language!
I think your new Cello fits your personality! 🤗🥰

@Ilona - nice instrument, congrats ! And good work!
Couldn't place the piece immediately - so thanks for the subsequent link you gave to the Jacqueline Du Pre performance. A great cellist, taken from us too soon.
