Deleted that vid, I am uploading it again, couldn’t leave that garbage on, when I listened to it ,it made no sense in the second part so I have done it again using a mute, I realised that there were two 16 notes followed by two eighth notes, I was running the two 16 notes together with a slur which made it sound nonsensical, playing isn’t much better but at least it will make sense now when listening🤓

I liked the first one much more.  I think you were more relaxed and if you played the wrong notes it worked.

Thanks greg, I just couldnt listen to the wrong notes though, even though it was only the two I said, it grated on my nerves, and to me like I say it didnt make sense, I had a mute on the second one which deadens the sou d somewhat, but thanks for your support:)

@stringy -

Don't know if it's just me, but if you hadn't said something and I hadn't seen it - I would not have known you were playing with a mute.  Certainly not the huge difference like on Katie's violin.

Sounded great!

Emily, when I play with it on under the ear it is really low, I seriously could barely hear it as I played but on playback it doesnt sound much different to normal, I wonder if it is something to do with the mic on my samsung tablet.

That’s weird you couldn’t hear it when you were playing . I was all over the place when I was using my mute. When I first put it on I couldn’t really tell any difference but then when I took it off I found it really loud.! Now I’m completely used to playing without! I bet if I put it back on I don’t notice a different !

Really good playing by the way!! I really like the twiddly bits you do. Makes it really interesting ! I’m sure there is a name  for them!!

They are called cuts and rolls, the twiddly bits that is. Yup its odd with the mute on I can just about hear it, when I take it off it does seem exceptionally loud, I cant fathom it, you can actually hear its very slightly muted on the recording but nothing like what I hear when playing. I have never tried recording with it on before ao didnt notice, I just thought it must sound  low to anyone listening.

Figured I'd show a little of what I'm up against -

at least I kept playing... badly.

Sorry folks, this would normally get thrown in the trash.

Hope you get a smile out of it.

Yes, Bugsy, I have eyes in the back of my head!

...yes, my make-up was literally falling off.

@ELCBK Charming tune—great job!  And it was nice of Bugsy to come and help you out.  Mine is always following me around trying to help (e.g., jumping into the laundry basket when I’m trying to fold clothes, etc.,).  Doesn’t hang around when I practice my violin, though. smile

Thanks for watching!

Kevin was a little late feeding 'the Boys', so Bugsy had to come tell me.

He usually leaves the room when I play, but when he doesn't - he tries to rub on my bow, head butts my bowing hand, or lately, he's been pawing at the back of my shoulder to get attention.  Madmartigan usually just comes in and howls, but sometimes he lays down behind my head while I practice.

In case anyone cares, I was really playing "Les Poules Huppées" (aka. Crested Hens) - just so focused on Bugsy, I not only played poorly, but didn't even put in the couple ornaments I usually do.

First heard this played by Winifred Horan.

@elcbk i thought you played jjst fine and enjoyed watching.  The extra help is always fun to watch.  you need to include a little extra in bugsbys pay check!

@ABitRusty , @Mark , @stringy -

Thanks, Guys!

I really do appreciate that you watched my "Les Poules Huppées" (aka. Crested Hens).

I've been trying to refrain from recording when I'm overly tired, because you don't need to be listening to me hit other strings - but, I'm overly tired just about all the time these days. (lol)

Just bought some amazing catnip buds (on stems from Chewy.com) - would be a VERY chaotic video if I give some to Bugsy & Madmartigan, before recording.

😈 ...very tempting!

You are not the only one tired Emily, we over here change our clocks tonight! so it is dark an hour earlier in the evening, and an hour lighter in the morning, which doesnt affect me as I am up at six for work every day and lose out, its dark when I go in and dark when I go home, no more hols now till february either. I call this time of year the big dark,  nothing to do except work.

Mind you I dont think  either of us are as tired as this girl, she is called sky and lives at the farm were my missus keeps the horse20210613_163617.jpgImage Enlarger

I don't think any of us up as far North as we are should ever have to 'Fall Back' an hour on our time, but we are.

Maybe you can find a way to get some temporary soundproofing up on maybe one wall & make sure you at least have rugs on the floor, so so can look forward to playing, again! 🤞

...btw - I have some strong 'daylight' strength light bulbs around me & it doesn't even help with this dark rainy weather we've been having. (lol)
