@ABitRusty Great job--I think I like the hornpipe version more; like the swing on the fiddle tunes.

thank you @SharonC and @stringy !  wasnt sure what id like on this one but agree the swing version sounds better to me too.  especially sped up to 1.5 in youtube laugh  Fergall Scahill has an awesome version as usual on youtube.  if you like the tune its worth a listen.

@ABitRusty -

Maybe a tiny bit faster would sound good, but Fergall Scahill's speed?

I realize some of the tunes played for these Parties may not be played again, but if these are 'work's in progress', hope you'll post another video when you reach your targeted goal with it.

Personally, I think anyone who continues to work hard to get a tune played exactly how they envision it to be done - should also post their finalized video in these Party threads!  🤗

This goes for everyone! 🥰

Any different thoughts on this?

I have been playing one on and off called the cat in the corner, but unfortunately with my new neighbours I am having to fit in a couple of minutes here and there, so my playing lately has more or less come to a stop.

You know I'll go crazy over a Cat tune! (lol)

I hope you are not going to let this get you down, are you?  I still think there must be a solution.

You are very clever and I'm looking forward to hearing this tune!

E/V?

Can't blame you for not wanting to use a mute.  ...maybe soundproofing - even artwork placed on the wall, made of materials that have sound-proofing qualities, fiber art or quilts, etc...  Some material here:

Thanks all for your support, dont want to spoil this party.

Some good ideas there emily, I took a look at the soundproofing it looks good, it has gotten to the point were I am considering an extension to the house.

iFIDDLE, I have bèen playing it on the mando, which is fairly quiet, to lock it in the brain its a nice tune. Think just lately I have been concentrating on the classical too much, and I also think fiddle tunes are great practice for intonation and are overlooked in this respect, not looked down on but not valued enough as a training aid as well as an art form in its own right. Heard a good fiddle player busking in chester not long ago, very entertaining, he was walking a tight rope ten feet off the ground while playing jigs at the same time, he was entertaining a huge crowd, who loved the jigs, everyone was tapping their feet and smiling.

Bit late Emily, and you really will have to forgive the mistakes, not picked the fiddle up for a few weeks, plinked on mando a few times only. got  a 5 minute window today so had to read the tune straight off, only bèen able to play it once previously due to my lovely neighbours, I have gone really rusty very quickly.

thanks mark and Emily. know exactly what you mean Emily, usually a tune sounds great until I record then mistakes immediately happen, I know it happens to all of us but it can be quite annoying.

I am thinking of getting an extension built onto our house, for some peace, but it costs an awful lot of money, and I am going to have to decide between buying somewhere in portugal near Lisbon or going ahead, my dream was Portugal I love Lisbon.

I think those pad things on the wall that Emily suggested look good but up to you String ! Nice playing. At least you carry on straight away like nothing as happened when you make a mistake not like me who gets into a flap !!

thanks greg.

Katie, I would have liked to do it again but couldnt get a chance which is why I just posted as is, dont know when I will get another chance to play anything on fiddle, mando isnt as bad because its not as loud. I have been looking at soundproofing its been killing me not being able to practice, bowing out the window and such like, very frustrating, as I am not the best at sight reading as well so as you heard I make mistakes, much better when I have commited to memory.
