I played the first part which isn't usually played, if ever, and then the part which is always played secondly, which maybe why it sounded different, it's open to interpretation anyway though, like most Irish or folk stuff, which is one of the reasons I prefer it to classical which is always done exactly the same, apart from any feeling the performer puts in.

Hope mouse leaves this here even though there s o fiddle on it, its a tribute and one we sing at funerals, never had a chance at John's obviously, if I would have been there I would have sung it, but there you go, vids not brilliant as I don't have e software anymore, but best I could do. Hope it's acceptable.

This is Manchester Cathedral by the way, and the flags at the beginning are of British regiments, hey are hung and left till they fall to pieces over the many, many years, it's a tradition in this country which I think John would have liked.

@stringy -
BEAUTIFUL!
I'm really moved by your singing of this tune!
Appreciate you shared this... yes, John would've loved it!
Now, why haven't you started singing with your fiddling?
Think you have FABULOUS possibilities ahead! I'd love to hear you alternate 'singing a refrain' (of any tune), with 'playing a refrain' (or part of one) on the violin. AND... I'm convinced there are lyrics for just about ALL trad Irish tunes (or make some up)!

Thanks for listening Emily and for the too kind comment as well.
Your idea of singing a part and playing a part is a really good idea I hadn't thought of that at all, and I am definitely going to give that a go no doubt about it, great idea, I will have to have a look for some good tunes that are easy enough on the violin.

I was thinking about our old friend JohnG today and this was on his song list.
Boy - I really insulted him with my version. I guess I threw it together too fast. It will only be here a short time, so don't be mad at me John!
