@wtw I love the Prelude from Suite 2! I like the melancholy feeling that is in it. You did absolutely great job with it!!
And yes, my teacher always demonstrates everything and explains why it should be played like it. Also, when we practiced these menuets, we were talking about baroque dances and the time period when Bach lived. I love to create stories in my mind when I play, and all this kind of background info helps.

This one is too easy to not guess right because I said the title of the piece right at the beginning of the video.

Pay no attention to those mysterious random string plucking sounds, because aliens. Or something.
I seriously do need to work on my intonation though. *sigh*

@Fiddlerman -
Hope you don't mind I kinda forced you to join this Party, but figured - what better place to show what you are made of?
Oops! Gave away the name of the piece.
Think you definitely passed "The Tough Guy Challenge"!
"Young Fiddlerman playing Bach Chaconne under hot lights"
AND, had to do it TWICE!
AWESOME! ...I'm totally blown away!

I know it's not Bach's birthday month but I thought I'd add to the party anyway.

I think my intonation is better even though I'm off in this piece on the E string. I'm having trouble with my hand creeping up the neck (Again! I thought I'd fixed this already!) so my fingering isn't correct and it really shows up in the E string notes.
Still having troubles with double stops and my D string elbow position won't stabilize so half the time I'm on G and/or A when all I want is a good clear note on D. It's maddening sometimes.

@RDP -
Wonderful minuet!
Keep up the the good work.
You are making GREAT progress!
Glad you joined the PARTY!

Btw, it's probably just a camera angle thing, but you might want to check & see that your bridge is sitting 90° to the top of your violin - from my view, it appears it might be leaning toward the tail piece and that may cause you issues.

Thanks, but I was hoping for a BWV number.
It's BWV 1068
There you go, but I couldn't have found it without you!
This sort of book never has enough attributions. It annoys me.

Verified human - the ignominy!

@Gordon Shumway -
Don't forget this is a PARTY THREAD.
Btw, SiennaAViolin started a 'Gavotte' Party with that piece, if you're interested.

It's probably just the camera angle. I check my bridge every time before playing because for some reason it changes overnight while in the case - always starting to lean forward - so part of my setting up is checking the bridge.
One of these days I'm going to add some graphite to the string slots on the bridge to see if that stops the overnight movement. At least it's easy to reset even if it does make tuning up take longer.

@RDP Good work on this--I can already see your progress!

Your left hand is collapsing a bit (palm is moving up to the neck). If you move your palm back down a bit to straighten your wrist (good to check in a mirror), you may find it easier to get your finger positions and feel more stable.
Characterize people by their actions and you will never be fooled by their words.
