It might be that the YouTube embed has been fixed. In any case, I did see links that don't work, but I imagine those links are to this site and were made during that week that we lost on the restore.

@wtw  Beautiful--nicely done.  You give the tune a full, poignant sound.

Beutiful playing and superb intonation, absolutely bang on. I agree with abitrusty, wish you would post more, its great having a completely different cultural form of music, full of sadness, excellently played, thanks for taking the time to join in was worth the wait.

Thanks for the kind words everyone 🙂

@ELCBK actually I know next to nothing about it. Platcsh Yisroel is the title of a mp3 track, from a book on klezmer fiddle ("Exploring Klezmer fiddle", by Chris Haigh). The book says it translates into "Cry, Israel" but I didn't find more info about this specific tune. I must admit I haven't read the whole book - it goes into the history of Jewish music and fiddle, with references to players, repertoire, ornamentation, and a CD of excerpts - you'd probably like it. In any case, the author has a website on which there's plenty of info, if you'd like some reading (https://fiddlingaround.co.uk/k.....index.html).

@wtw -

That's actually quite a bit of info - thank you!

I was really happy to find you playing Klezmer - and on the viola!

It's an intensely expressive genre and I really hope you share more.

I always enjoy listening to you play!  🎶🤗

Recorded another - the Lament of the First Generation (a lament is the epitome of sadness, right?), found in the book "1100 Irish tunes by eye and by ear" (big thanks to whoever linked that book somewhere on this forum - I don't remember who it was).

Anyway, I've been practicing this one for a while. No way that I'll ever get as good as the original (search for Liz Caroll's version on youtube if you want to hear it).

Thank you @Fiddlerman for fixing this topic! I would have been sorry to have killed it, there are so many more saddish tunes around.

I deleted the youtube link, I'll try to avoid them in future posts.

@ELCBK @ABitRusty @SharonC @stringy I'm glad you liked it, thanks for the kind comments.

You're welcome. Cynthia figured out a way to remove the last post. When I was doing it, the admin tools were not working. I saved your content though.

There is no reason to delete the YouTube link. We just need to copy the one provided by the share button as apposed to the URL in the address bar. That seems to fix the issue until I get SP to fix the Youtube embedding issue.
